THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Knowledge Manager to lead the design and implementation of a company-wide skills intelligence initiative. This role will develop a structured skills taxonomy, launch a comprehensive employee skills survey, and establish a centralized, searchable skills database to enhance talent visibility, project staffing, and professional development planning across the organization. This is for a short-term project only.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, a strong track record in knowledge management, organizational development, or human capital strategy, and deep expertise in building scalable knowledge assets and systems within a consulting, government contracting, or professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Skills Taxonomy Development
- Design a robust, hierarchical taxonomy of skills relevant to the company’s service offerings, delivery models, and client needs.
- Collaborate with business unit leaders and HR to ensure alignment with career paths, performance management, and learning & development.
- Skills Survey and Data Collection
- Lead the design and deployment of a skills self-assessment survey across all employees, ensuring clarity, consistency, and high engagement.
- Develop guidance for skill proficiency levels, self-evaluation rubrics, and validation processes.
- Skills Database and Knowledge Asset Development
- Architect and implement a dynamic, searchable repository of employee skills, certifications, experiences, and credentials.
- Work with IT and data teams to select or integrate appropriate platforms (e.g., SharePoint, internal HRIS, or third-party KM tools).
- Define metadata standards, tagging structures, and user access protocols.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Information Science, HR, or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in knowledge management, HR systems, organizational effectiveness, or talent development roles.
- Experience building or managing skill frameworks, competency models, or capability mapping initiatives.
- Expertise in structuring large datasets and creating usable taxonomies or classification systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
