Senior IT Project Manager – Cybersecurity & Infrastructure

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager for a high-profile, 6-month enterprise contract within a public-sector/higher-education environment.

In this role, you will take ownership of multiple concurrent initiatives focused on improving enterprise cybersecurity and infrastructure operational maturity. Working alongside senior cybersecurity leadership and PMO governance teams, you will guide critical workstreams including Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning tabletop exercises, Vulnerability Management, and upcoming RFP/discovery activities from planning through delivery.

You will have dedicated support from an Organizational Change Management resource, allowing you to focus on project governance, vendor delivery, milestone tracking, financial management, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Program & Project Governance: Lead coordination, milestone tracking, risk mitigation, and end-to-end delivery of concurrent IT initiatives across infrastructure and cybersecurity.
  
• Core Initiatives Delivery: Drive key program activities involving Disaster Recovery, BCP simulation/tabletop exercises, Vulnerability Management workflows, and upcoming technology discovery and RFP processes.
  
• Stakeholder & Vendor Alignment: Work with Cyber Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Supply Chain, executive sponsors, and vendors to align project scope, technical requirements, procurement needs, and delivery expectations.
  
• PMO Artifacts & Reporting: Develop and maintain project charters, integrated delivery schedules, risk/issue/dependency logs, status dashboards, and financial forecasting/reconciliation reports.
  
• Risk & Compliance Coordination: Facilitate technical gate reviews, solution delivery documentation, and Privacy/Security Impact Assessments.
  
• Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Partner closely with an Organizational Change Management specialist to support operational readiness, user training, and seamless adoption across business units.
  

Mandatory Requirements

• PMP Certification: Active Project Management Professional certification in good standing.
  
• Experience: Minimum 10+ years of formal IT Project Management experience managing complex, concurrent initiatives across the complete project lifecycle.
  
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  
• On-Site Availability: Must be locally based in the Calgary area and available to work on-site three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  
• Financial & PMO Acumen: Demonstrated hands-on experience managing project budgets, forecasting, vendor RFPs, and formal PMO governance frameworks.
  

Preferred Qualifications & Assets

• Proven experience managing IT Infrastructure, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, or Cybersecurity/Identity implementations.
  
• Prior experience delivering projects within post-secondary education, public sector, or heavily regulated enterprise environments.
  
• Experience managing enterprise technology procurement, discovery activities, and competitive RFP evaluations.
  
• ITIL Foundation or related service management certification.
