We are seeking an experienced solutions-oriented Senior Leave and Benefits Associate to join our Global Total team. This role will provide support across benefits functions, with a strong emphasis on leave of absence (LOA) management and compliance with U.S. federal and state leave laws . You will play a key role in delivering seamless and consistent HR support to employees in designated office(s), fostering trust through empathetic communication and adherence to policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact HR point of contact for leave of absence administration (FMLA, ADA, state-level programs such as NY PFL, CA PFL, etc.)
  • Administer accommodations under the ADA and related laws
  • Provide clear and consistent interpretation of benefits and policies, ensuring seamless application across the business
  • Collaborate with providers to manage short- and long-term disability claims effectively and empathetically
  • Manage leave and accommodation requests by:
    • Ensuring completeness of documentation
    • Interpreting applicability of leave protections
    • Guiding employees and managers through process and setting expectations
  • Use judgment to identify when to escalate complex, sensitive, or non-routine cases to Legal or HR leadership
  • Partner across the Benefits team and HR Centers of Excellence for coordination on legal compliance issues
  • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation related to leaves, accommodations, remote work, and other employee lifecycle events
  • Ensure HR practices adhere to federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA)
  • Proactively communicate with leaders and employees to foster trust and transparency

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field with strong academic record
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including but not limited to:
    • FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA
    • State-specific programs such as NY PFL, CA PFL, NJ TDI
  • Experience administering intermittent and long-term leaves, interpreting medical certifications, and managing return-to-work processes
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors) and case documentation best practices
  • Strong professional communication skills and discretion in handling confidential matters
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage ambiguity

Travel:
Travel is a requirement at ZS for client facing ZSers; business needs of your project and client are the priority. While some projects may be local, all client-facing ZSers should be prepared to travel as needed.
