Our mission

We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in...

How you'll help us achieve it

Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And we're still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people's everyday lives.

Do you have strong analytical skills, love delving into campaign performance, and can harness data-driven insights and innovative strategies to drive growth? If so, we would love to hear from you!

We are seeking a Growth Marketing Manager who will play a key role in developing and executing data-driven strategies to enhance customer acquisition and engagement. You will work across marketing channels to find opportunities to scale our growth more effectively.

In this role, you'll;

  • Co-develop and execute data-driven growth marketing strategies to drive user acquisition, activation, and retention.
  • Contribute to driving organic growth in our new and emerging markets as we are scaling the business in different markets.
  • Optimize offline and online marketing channel strategies to improve conversion rates and maximize ROI.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, analytics, and operations teams to enhance customer acquisition and engagement strategies.
  • Leverage customer insights, A/B testing, and analytics to refine messaging, user journeys, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Project manage and scale growth experiments and implement processes to optimize marketing efficiency.
  • Analyze growth metrics and develop regular reporting to measure performance and inform strategic decisions.
Key details
  • This is a remote role. Candidates must be based in one of our hiring countries (UK, Spain, Kenya, Ghana, US East Coast and Canada) with frequent travels to our operating countries.

    • 6 months of fully paid parental leave and subsidized fertility assistance.
    • Flexible vacation, with most folks taking between 30-40 days per year.
    • $10,000 annual charitable donation matching.
Requirements
  • +10 years of experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, sales or a similar role, preferably in financial services, telecommunications, or FMCG.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, data science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management as well as experience leading large scale and complex cross-functional projects.
  • Proven ability to scale customer acquisition through organic growth, distribution strategies, paid media, referrals and partnerships.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in A/B testing, marketing attribution models and data analytics (including proficiency managing data with excel/google sheets and familiarity with SQL).
  • Flexibility to travel frequently to our different operating markets
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Understanding of digital marketing tools (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, CRM, marketing automation) and growth hacking techniques.
  • Languages: Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
You might be a good fit if you
  • Are data-driven and thrive on measuring and improving performance metrics.
  • Are a self-starter who takes ownership of ambitious targets and delivers results.
  • Have a creative mindset and enjoy experimenting with new growth strategies.
  • Are comfortable working in high-growth, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
