A Day in the LifeThe Acute Care and Monitoring (ACM) operating unit (OU) is committed to excellence in innovation and commercialization to pursue our vision and long-term business growth. The ACM organization is refining its product delivery, innovation, and commercialization approach to enable product leadership across all segments of our product portfolio. This will require enhancing our innovative processes, refining our design and delivery approaches to deliver an integrated and comprehensive portfolio that enables product development excellence across ACM.
The Senior Group Manager, Upstream Marketing will lead a team of product and product planning marketers to develop the Respiratory product portfolio development roadmap and 5 year portfolio strategy. Develops a coordinated, long-range product plan that meets global customer requirements and is technically feasible. Assesses customer requirements through feedback from Product Managers, Innovation Delivery, Market Research, development, and execution of customer feedback programs. Interface with customers to identify key strategic areas of focus and obtain feedback regarding current and future product plans.
Overseeing the development of global marketing requirements documents, product roadmaps, and external partner relationships.
This role is based in Lafayette, Colorado along with the product marketing and business leadership team.

Responsibilities include:
Lead the upstream marketing team to generate opportunity assessments, assessing market opportunity through detailed market modeling, defining unmet needs and value propositions, monitoring competitive landscape and understanding technological advancements.
Drive Respiratory portfolio strategies in partnership with ACM leadership based on user research, market and business insights, competitive intelligence, business needs, and trends in technology and user experience.
Prepare presentations and supporting materials to align executive leaders and ACM LT on new market opportunities and core team phase reviews needed to continue the growth trajectory of the business.
Lead a team responsible for representing the product marketing and strategy function on product core teams, representing voice-of-customer to ensure unmet needs are accurately communicated and prioritized for development of best-in-class products.
Support business development activities and assessment of strategic targets.
Identify areas for operational excellence and process improvement within upstream marketing to drive efficiency and consistency.
Participate and contribute to the annual ACM strategic planning process.
Obtain, analyze and summarize key customer needs through: Voice of Customer (VOC) and Voice of Business (VOB) practices; active engagement of key opinion leaders, current and potential customers, and internal stakeholders; via advisory boards, congress tech suites, one-on-one engagements and third-party market research.
Create a diverse, inclusive and highly engaged team through staff meetings, 1:1s, performance reviews and career development discussions.
Develop talent to create a strong pipeline of future leaders for the ACM organization.
Develop and maintain relationships with customers and key opinion leaders.
Spend time in the field with sales personnel and customers to understand their perspectives, needs and ideas to inform strategy and program requirements.
Interacts and works closely with other departments, such as but not limited to Global Marketing Teams, Research and Technology, Research and Development, Sales, Medical Education, Field Training and Development, Finance and Clinical to ensure marketing programs achieve Medtronic's short and long-term goals while remaining consistent with the organization's overall mission.
Travel up to 20%.
Must Haves
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7+ years in a marketing, strategy or engineering role or Master's degree and a minimum of 5+ years in a marketing, strategy or engineering role.
At least 5 years of people, program or project management experience
Nice to Haves
MBA
Experience in medical device or healthcare industry
Leadership experience with direct reports or cross-functional teams
Upstream marketing experience including innovation and evidence pipeline and participate in portfolio planning activities
Strong experience interfacing with physician customers both individually and in working group settings
Track-record and passion for effective cross-functional collaboration
Strong analytical and quantitative skills and experience
