This role will be working on our Poe product.

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to contribute to Poe, our rapidly growing AI product. On the Creators team, you’ll have the thrilling opportunity to build cutting-edge features from the ground up as part of a team focused on enhancing our Developer API and enabling third-party developers. Example projects include adding feature support to our external developer APIs and support the expansion of our developer ecosystem. You’ll play a key role in shaping how developers deploy bots on the platform and consume our APIs, ensuring new functionality is intuitive, impactful, and delivers a seamless end-to-end experience.

In this role, you'll help plan and implement new product features, contribute across the stack, and take shared ownership of the cross-functional development cycle. We're looking for strong technical collaborators who are excited about AI, energized by fast-paced environments, and eager to learn and experiment with emerging technologies. • Partner with cross-functional teams (design, product, data science, QA, and engineering) to advise on product roadmap and create innovative features and developer experiences with our APIs

• Rapidly prototype and implement new product features from ideation to production, using modern web technologies and best practices for performance and reliability

• Collaborate closely with early access developers to deliver scalable and efficient API features

• Be a champion for both developer experience and for sustainable, scalable code practices

• Participate in on-call responsibilities to ensure Poe provides a reliable and high quality product

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)

• 5+ years of experience working with large scale codebases and systems

• 3+ years experience in Python, Java, C++ or similar programming language

• A passion for learning and always improving yourself and the team around you

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• 2+ years experience in designing APIs or building UI products for external developers

• Passion for Poe and Quora's products and mission

• Passion for code quality and designing elegant systems

• Stay updated on the latest API trends, technologies, and best practices

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.

• US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $155,656 - $225,160 USD + equity + benefits.

• Canada candidates only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $202,383 - $278,361 CAD + equity + benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $188,891 - $259,803 CAD + equity + benefits.
