ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, Internal Systems at Biofire, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing our internal systems strategy—partnering with teams across operations, production, and manufacturing to understand current workflows, uncover pain points, and translate insights into a prioritized execution plan. We are looking for someone who is highly autonomous, deeply curious, and comfortable moving from ambiguity to action to help strengthen the systems that power our day-to-day execution.
To succeed you will need to be able to dive deep into system usage, conduct user research, and ship meaningful improvements quickly—including producing a clear roadmap and executing baseline features that move us toward a minimum lovable product. You will need to be an evidence-driven problem solver, who is eager to build internal systems that improve operational workflows and make data a trusted source of truth. If you’re excited about helping to solve mission-critical challenges, we encourage you to apply.
Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:
Develop and implement internal systems strategy by collaborating with stakeholders to understand current state usage, pain points, and workflow gaps; documenting findings and recommendations clearly;
Conduct user research and deep product/system discovery to develop a data-validated, prioritized action plan for internal system improvements;
Lead assessment, ranking, and execution of a roadmap for internal systems issues and features;
Own feature execution by rapidly prototyping, iterating, and delivering baseline feature improvements on the path to a minimum lovable product;
Establish and operate a structured feedback loop and request intake process for internal users; triage requests, clarify problem statements, and align intake with internal systems planning and prioritization;
Maintain documentation and enable adoption by creating/updating process flows and training users (new and existing) on system changes and workflow optimization based on real use cases;
Strong communicator and listener who can translate user needs into clear requirements, tailor solutions to real-world constraints, and drive alignment through documentation and training.
QUALIFICATIONS
We understand that not all applicants will possess skills that perfectly align with our job qualifications. At Biofire, we appreciate diverse experiences from various industries, and we encourage all individuals who meet the necessary qualifications to submit their applications. Proven track record delivering working solutions for operational workflows in production/manufacturing or similar environments, with high autonomy and end-to-end ownership;
Experience programming in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages, with the ability to prototype quickly and ship production-quality improvements;
Demonstrated experience building and optimizing internal systems using tools like Foundry, Splunk, Datadog, or comparable platforms;
Strong data fundamentals, including entity-relationship modeling and ensuring data integrity via validation, reconciliation, and resilient handling of late/missing/dirty data;
