About PackageX

PackageX is building the Physical Logistics Execution Platform for enterprise teams operating across manufacturing sites, distribution centers, warehouses, retail locations, and logistics-heavy environments.

Our platform uses Vision AI, workflow automation, mobile execution, and integrations to help companies digitize, execute, and verify physical operations at the point of work, creating trusted evidence of what happened across their operations.

Our operating model is simple: Execution. Verification. Evidence.

Role Overview

PackageX is looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with prospects, customers, technology partners, platform, AI, and GTM teams to understand complex physical operations, design and build high-value workflows, establish ROI, and move enterprise opportunities from discovery through commercial close and go-live

This is a highly customer-facing commercial and hands-on engineering role. You will own customer relationships and enterprise opportunities while remaining hands-on in workflow design and configuration.

Role Details

Reports to: Chief Technology & AI Officer, with GTM coaching and commercial operating support from the CEO and Head of GTM AI.

Location: This is a U.S. based role, with remote or hybrid flexibility depending on candidate location and company needs.

Travel: Regular customer-site travel required for discovery, workflow mapping, operational walkthroughs, pilots, executive readouts, strategic customer engagements and relationship building.

Compensation

Target base salary: $150,000–$175,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

Performance-based bonus tied to qualified opportunity progression, workflow quality, successful pilots, customer value creation, and ARR/commercial outcomes.

Expected total compensation: $200,000–$250,000 OTE, based on achievement of commercial and sales performance outcomes.

The compensation package also includes a meaningful equity grant aligned with the company’s stage and the scope of the role.

What You’ll Own
  • Customer operational and workflow discovery.

  • Current-state and future-state workflow design.

  • PackageX workflow configuration and hands-on solution building.

  • Pilot setup, testing, and technical validation.

  • Technical and business value articulation.

  • Customer relationships, communication, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Enterprise opportunity ownership from discovery through pilot, commercial close, and implementation transition.

  • Technology partners identification and relationship management.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and progress target accounts from prospecting and discovery through solutioning and close.

  • Develop relationships across operational, technical, and executive customer stakeholders.

  • Translate technical solutions into clear operational and business value.

  • Qualify, progress, and own enterprise opportunities through customer decision and commercial close.

  • Travel to customer sites for workflow mapping, operational walkthroughs, pilot support, readouts, and go-live activities.

  • Partner with GTM AI and leadership on account strategy, stakeholder mapping, follow-up, opportunity progression, and commercial process.

  • Configure workflows, rules, forms, logic, automations, and solution components.

  • Test workflows and troubleshoot configuration, workflow, data, integration, and operational issues.

  • Document workflow requirements, assumptions, dependencies, configuration logic, and implementation decisions.

  • Build repeatable workflow playbooks by industry and use case.

How This Role Works With Implementation & Value Realization Leadership

The Senior FDE owns technical solutioning, workflow configuration, customer relationships, and opportunity progression through commercial close. After close, Technical Implementation & Value Realization owns the implementation program, adoption, measurable value, renewal, and expansion. The FDE remains actively involved in workflow configuration, technical solution integrity, significant solution changes, and technically complex expansions.

These roles work closely together: the FDE ensures the solution is built correctly and helps win the business, while Implementation & Value Realization ensures it is deployed, adopted, and expanded successfully.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 90 days:

  • Independently run operational and commercial discovery.

  • Build current- and target-state solution design.

  • Build and demonstrate working PackageX solutions.

  • Develop credibility with business and technical customer stakeholders.

  • Begin multithreading strategic accounts.

  • Identify and articulate customer value.

  • Progress assigned enterprise opportunities with clear next actions.

  • Run successful pilots and executive readouts.

  • Use GTM processes and AI tooling consistently.

  • Demonstrate growing commercial judgment and ownership.

  • Identify reusable workflows and platform patterns.

Ideal Background
  • 5–8 years in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, technical sales, solutions architecture, or technology consulting.

  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers.

  • Experience configuring or implementing enterprise software platforms from sales discovery to solution design and go-live.

  • Experience owning substantive customer relationships, not only supporting another customer-facing lead.

  • Able to connect technical solutions to operational outcomes and business value.

  • Strong commercial aptitude and interest in owning qualification, executive engagement, opportunity progression, and closing.

  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, systems, data flows, integrations, and implementation dependencies.

  • Comfortable with APIs, integrations, configuration logic, and technical documentation.

  • Strong communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Comfortable creating structure in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

  • Strong curiosity about logistics, supply chain, and physical operations.

Bonus Points
  • Experience with logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, or physical retail operations.

  • Experience with WMS, TMS, ERP, NetSuite, AS400, SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, or similar systems.

  • Experience with AI, computer vision, workflow automation, robotics, IoT, or physical AI.

  • Founded a company, even if that didn’t work out.

Key Traits
  • Customer-facing with a hands-on, builder mentality.

  • Commercially curious and comfortable discussing business value.

  • Technical, structured, and operational.

  • Strong workflow and systems thinker.

  • Strong customer presence and relationship-building ability.

  • High ownership from problem discovery through customer decision.

  • Able to simplify, configure, and test complex workflows.

  • Comfortable being in the field with customers and in ambiguous environments.

  • Strong documentation discipline and a habit of asking thoughtful, clarifying questions.

  • Low ego, high ownership, proactive, and detail-oriented.

  • Strong bias towards winning a deal and getting customers live.

Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) plan.

  • Paid time off and company holidays.

  • Remote or hybrid work flexibility, depending on location and business needs.
