We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Financial Planning expert to serve as the subject matter lead for SoFi’s AI-powered financial coach. This pivotal role will work alongside our Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) teams to build and refine a customer facing Gen AI product that provides personalized, actionable, and compliant financial guidance to our members.
As the lead domain expert, you will be instrumental in shaping the intelligence and integrity of the SoFi Coach. Your deep expertise in financial planning will ensure the AI delivers safe and effective guidance, helping us achieve our mission to empower members to reach financial independence.
What you’ll do:- Serve as the primary financial planning subject matter expert on SoFi’s AI powered financial coach helping to evolve the AI from providing generic information to delivering more actionable and personalized insights.
- Work alongside our technology team to translate complex financial topics and regulations into requirements and AI guardrails.
- Establish and lead the ongoing domain-expert evaluation of AI Outputs to ensure quality, compliance, and accuracy.
- Partner with Legal & Compliance to create and verify the AI knowledge base and behavioral guidelines that power the SoFi Coach.
- ~20% of time working directly with our Members as part of SoFi’s Certified FInancal Planning team, with the goal of continued iteration for how we can make the AI experience meet our Member’s needs.
- 10+ years of professional experience working directly as a financial advisor (e.g., Certified Financial Planner, Wealth Management).
- Credentials: CFP® designation
- Licenses: Series 7 and 65
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret member questions, AI outputs, and regulatory guidelines to inform product improvements.
- Demonstrated experience translating complex domain knowledge to a wide-variety of stakeholders (e.g. Customers, Technical Stakeholders, Regulators)
- A keen ability to learn quickly and a passion for how advancements in AI can unlock meaningful opportunities for our Members
Self-starter with a proven ability to move-the-ball forward while working across diverse, cross-functional teams to deliver on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have:- Experience working in a 0 to 1 environment building new products and/or services from the ground up
- Prior experience in financial technology (fintech), and Personal Financial Management offerings are a ✓++
- Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies and their application in providing personalized guidance.
- Experience directly working with technical teams
