About the Team

The Workday Success Plans Team is dedicated to helping customers realize ongoing value from their Workday Financials applications after go-live. We design and deliver targeted programs that drive adoption, optimization, and measurable business outcomes across the Workday platform.
Within Success Plans, this role focuses on Workday Financials – Record to Report. Our customers rely on us as trusted advisors to help configure, optimize, and extend their core accounting and close processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the financial lifecycle.

About the Role

As a Workday Financials (Spend Management) Functional Consultant – Workday Success Plans, you will work directly with customers post go-live to ensure they are fully leveraging their Workday Financials investment.

You will serve as a hands-on functional expert across Spend Management, providing configuration guidance, troubleshooting support, and best-practice advisory services. This role blends deep Workday Financials configuration expertise with customer-facing consulting and enablement, helping customers optimize requisition-to-pay processes, supplier management, and spend controls.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on in the tenant, partnering closely with customers, and helping finance and procurement teams drive efficiency, compliance, and visibility through Workday.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Consulting & Advisory

  • Deliver appointment-based consulting engagements (e.g., Office Hours, micro-consulting sessions) focused on Spend Management configuration and optimization

  • Partner with customers to understand procurement, supplier, invoicing, and expense requirements and translate them into scalable Workday Financials solutions

  • Provide design options, configuration recommendations, and best-practice guidance aligned to Workday standards and internal control frameworks

Configuration & Troubleshooting

  • Configure, review, and optimize Workday Spend Management functionality, including:

    • Requisitions & Purchase Orders

    • Supplier Accounts & Supplier Portal

    • Supplier Contracts

    • Inventory (as applicable)

    • Supplier Invoices & Invoice Matching

    • Expenses & Corporate Cards

    • Asset Purchasing (procurement components)

  • Configure and review Workday Financials security, including domain security, business process security, and role-based access to support proper controls and approval workflows

  • Troubleshoot complex configuration, security, and transactional issues; identify root causes and recommend optimal solutions

  • Perform configuration and business requirements reviews, producing clear deliverables outlining findings, risks, and optimization opportunities

Customer Enablement & Adoption

  • Design and deliver feature demonstrations, Accelerator Webinars, and enablement sessions focused on Spend Management processes

  • Provide one-on-one consulting to accelerate adoption of procurement, supplier, invoicing, and expense capabilities

  • Conduct Feature Adoption Tenant Reviews to identify underutilized Spend Management functionality and define targeted adoption plans

Thought Leadership & Continuous Learning

  • Maintain up-to-date expertise in Workday Spend Management, including new features, roadmap items, and security enhancements

  • Stay current on procurement, payables, and expense management best practices, including compliance and audit considerations

  • Contribute insights and feedback to help evolve Success Plans offerings and drive measurable customer value

About You

Basic Qualifications (P4 / Senior)

  • 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials Spend Management configuration experience

  • 5+ years of experience with Workday Financials and financial systems

  • 3+ years of customer-facing consulting or advisory experience supporting Record to Report processes

Basic Qualifications (P3 / Consultant)

  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday Financials Spend Management configuration experience, including ownership of design, build, and optimization

  • 3+ years of experience working with Workday Financials and financial systems, with a focus on accounting and close processes

  • 1+ years of customer-facing consulting experience advising on Record to Report configuration, security, and best practices

Additional Qualifications

  • Workday Certification or ability to obtain a Workday Certification

  • Ability to clearly explain complex Record to Report and security concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and deliverables concurrently

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience supporting large, global enterprises with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting

  • Ability to travel up to 20%, based on customer and business needs

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $140,300 USD - $210,500 USD


 

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $111,000 USD - $197,300 USD

Additional Considerations:

If performed in Colorado, the pay range for this job is $117,000 - $175,400 USD based on min and max pay range for that role if performed in CO.
