The Profitability Team is part of the larger Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) group which falls within Franklin Templeton Global Finance with the collective mission of “Improving the Quality of Every Business Decision”. The Profitability Team is highly visible and works collaboratively with Executive Management, Functional Leaders across the firm, and Finance colleagues to develop and communicate Profitability results for both internal and external stakeholders. What is the Senior Financial Analyst / Profitability Analyst responsible for?The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) in Profitability has responsibility for managing cost allocation methodologies, developing reporting, and delivering analysis to help drive business insights for product, strategic investment manager (SIM), distribution channel, and shareholder servicing profitability. The SFA in Profitability also collaborates in the creation and delivery of product Profit and Loss (P&L) reports and supporting materials for all U.S. registered products for the annual 15(c) management contract renewal process for all Fund Boards as well as for constituents throughout the year including various product rationalization committees. The emphasis is on critical thinking and collaborating to help the Profitability team deliver actionable analysis and recommendations to educate key stakeholders which include Division Heads and their management teams, Senior Finance and Executive Management, the Global Product Committee (GPC), Fund Boards, and cross functional, geographically diverse Finance colleagues.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Senior Financial Analyst?Work in collaboration with Profitability Management to provide reporting and insightful analysis for Profit and Loss statements for products and business lines.
Develop new and rationalize existing expense allocation methodologies considering automation, applying a consistent framework, and simplifying where appropriate.
Proactively manage ongoing methodology changes prompted by events such as organizational changes, functional realignments, and possible acquisitions.
Address inquiries on allocation results from Profitability Management, Division Leaders, Product Committees, Fund Boards, Consultants and Transfer Pricing.
Actively participate in and assist with the reconciliation efforts of the monthly profitability close process in collaboration with other internal business functions.
Help to create new reporting and analysis tools to hasten better informed and improved decision making via modeling what-if scenarios and impact analysis on product profitability.
Improve business intelligence by building out self-service capabilities, including dashboards and other financial variance and product profitability analysis tools.
Lead continuous improvement of the data quality of systems while applying business acumen, as well as calculation methodologies in the financial model to improve the quality of the outputs.
A successful candidate in this role is highly motivated and resourceful, pro-active, detail focused, an exceptional communicator, and driven to produce accurate results.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Accounting, with at least 5 years’ experience, preferably more, in a corporate setting; MBA a plus.
Asset Management industry experience and knowledge of investment products helpful. Profitability and expense allocation skills regardless of industry even more helpful.
Analytical mindset and intellectual curiosity essential. Knowledge of and ability to embrace tools to turn data into useful information of high value.
Experience leveraging advanced analytical, reporting and data visualization tools to deliver actionable insights and enhance decision making (Tableau, Power BI, Essbase, Smart View, OfficeConnect, etc.)
Experience with activity-based costing and proficiency in activity-based allocation tools such as Tagetik, Oracle HPCM, or Anaplan.
Familiarity with fixed and variable, direct and indirect, and incremental cost analysis.
Knowledge of and experience with Workday and Adaptive Planning.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs).
Ability to independently structure and develop analyses and communicate their meaning.
Professional understanding of Finance and Accounting concepts including KPIs
Collaboration, business partnering, and soft skills necessary.
Experience with project management, agile concepts and working with technology.
Compensation Range: Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary — designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, a 401(k) plan with a generous match, and recognition rewards. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $85,000 - $100,000, depending on location and level of relevant experience, plus discretionary bonus.”
