ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A at Biofire, you will play a pivotal role in owning and maintaining Biofire's forward-looking financial picture — including the investor model and operational budget model — keeping them always current and accurate. We are looking for someone who is analytically rigorous, operationally curious, and highly autonomous to contribute to our Financial Operations team and help give leadership a real-time, reliable view of the company's financial trajectory.

To succeed you will need to be able to build, maintain, and continuously refine financial models that accurately reflect the business, investigate variances independently, and deliver insights with context and narrative. You will need to be a self-driven analytical thinker, who is eager to take full ownership of Biofire's FP&A function and turn financial data into actionable intelligence for decision-making. If you're excited about helping to solve mission-critical challenges, we encourage you to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Own and maintain both the investor model and the operational budget model, ensuring neither is ever more than one week stale with the latest actuals and updated forecast assumptions;

  • Investigate budget-to-actual variances independently — including going directly to department leads to understand drivers — and surface findings with context and narrative to the CFO;

  • Build and operate department-level budget vs. actuals dashboards in Abacum so department leads can self-serve their budget position without requesting reports from finance;

  • Migrate the investor model into Abacum (or equivalent integrated platform) so that both models share a single source of assumptions, eliminating the risk of inconsistent financial stories;

  • Own the full data pipeline feeding the financial models — including Light, Palantir Foundry, and Abacum connections — diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure uninterrupted data flow.

QUALIFICATIONS

We understand that not all applicants will possess skills that perfectly align with our job qualifications. At Biofire, we appreciate diverse experiences from various industries, and we encourage all individuals who meet the necessary qualifications to submit their applications. While having the "desired" qualifications may strengthen a candidate's profile, we also welcome applicants with alternative experiences to apply.

  • 4+ years of experience in FP&A, equity research, investment banking, or a related financial analysis role with a strong foundation in financial modeling and forecasting

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining driver-based financial models that reflect operational realities — not just financial formulas

  • Proficiency with FP&A platforms (e.g., Abacum, Adaptive, Anaplan) and advanced Excel; experience with data platforms (e.g., Palantir Foundry) is a plus

  • Strong business intuition and the ability to distinguish material variances from noise, investigate root causes, and communicate findings with context

  • Track record of working cross-functionally with non-finance stakeholders to collect data and build productive working relationships

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

In addition to competitive pay, as a full-time employee at Biofire you are eligible for:

  • Stock Options in Biofire, 401(k), HSA - and other financial benefits

  • Medical Insurance - including plan options with $0 payroll deduction

  • Dental, Vision and Life Insurance Plans - with $0 payroll deduction

  • 3 Weeks Vacation and Sick time (Flex Time for salary positions), and 13 Paid Holidays

  • Parental Leave - and other family-building, adoption and surrogacy benefits

The compensation range for this role is $140,000 - 160,000/annual salary + stock options + benefits.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

LOCATION

This is a full-time, salaried role. Our dog-friendly, state-of-the-art headquarters is located in beautiful Broomfield, Colorado, between Boulder and Denver. The team regularly engages in collaborative in-person sessions at our vibrant office space, but you will be offered the flexibility to work from home as needed.
We expect you to bring your very best, and in return, we will provide the support necessary for you to excel. You'll collaborate with colleagues you appreciate, respect, and find inspiration from, and have access to all the technical resources needed.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

We’re bringing innovation to a technological problem that has persisted for decades, so we depend on diverse, inclusive, and collaborative teams to break new ground and do great work. We welcome people from all qualified backgrounds, and we don’t discriminate based on race, religion, color, political affiliation, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.

This role handles information subject to US Export Control Regulations. Applicants must be (a) a citizen of the United States; (b) a lawful permanent resident of the United States (“Green Card” holder); or (c) a person admitted into the United States as an asylee or refugee to be considered for the position.
