As the Engineering Manager for Edge Software, you will lead a high-performing technical team at the intersection of IoT, hardware, and Edge AI. You will foster a culture of innovation, bridging the gap between high-performance cloud services and edge-computing environments to ensure our nation-wide distributed systems operate with uncompromising reliability. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will align technical strategy with aggressive business goals to decode real-world context through intelligent automation.
This role will be based out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah, or our workspace in Seattle, Washington. We will consider highly qualified fully remote candidates on a limited basis.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a collaborative team of software engineers to deliver end-to-end edge solutions that meet LVT’s high standards for reliability.
- Talent Growth: Lead recruiting efforts to onboard top-tier engineering talent and facilitate continuous coaching and professional development within your team.
- Scalable Architecture: Partner with Architects and Principal Engineers to drive the design of a robust edge platform capable of handling growing complexity.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product, Hardware, QA, and InfoSec teams to align engineering roadmaps with business needs.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee and optimize engineering processes to ensure world-class execution and predictable, high-quality delivery cycles.
- Strategic Execution: Translate complex business requirements into actionable technical strategies, making data-driven decisions to move the platform forward.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as a key bridge between technical execution and executive vision, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.
- Proven Leadership: You have 7+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years successfully managing direct reports in a high-growth environment.
- Edge AI Expertise: You have a track record of deploying and optimizing deep learning models on resource-constrained hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, ARM, or RISC-V).
- Technical Proficiency: You are highly skilled in GoLang, C++, or similar languages, with experience in frameworks like Yocto and Zephyr.
- JDM/ODM Experience: You have specific experience shipping hardware-integrated software projects created jointly with JDM or ODM partners.
- Optimization Specialist: You are proficient in quantization (INT8/FP16), pruning, and knowledge distillation using frameworks like TensorRT, OpenVINO, or TensorFlow Lite.
- Hardware Savvy: You possess practical experience deploying and managing software across thousands of remotely distributed IoT devices.
- Strategic Mindset: You excel at developing strategic plans that balance technical debt with the need for rapid, market-disrupting innovation.
- Academic Foundation: You hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
