As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering in the Data Platform organization, you will lead and grow a team of talented software engineers focused on building and optimizing our core data platform. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable data solutions. What You'll Do:
Lead and Mentor: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance on career development, performance management, and technical best practices.
Strategic Planning & Execution: Partner with product management, architects, and other engineering leaders to define the roadmap for the data platform. Drive the execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
Architectural Vision: Contribute to the architectural vision and design of the data platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and security.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex data engineering challenges, including data ingestion, transformation, warehousing, and analytics. Champion high-quality code, robust observability and testing, and efficient development processes.
Process Improvement: Establish and enforce best practices for software development, data governance, and data quality, including the adoption and refinement of Agile/Scrum methodologies. Drive continuous improvement in team processes and engineering methodologies.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with various engineering teams, and stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver effective solutions. Develop strong partnerships to drive cross-functional data initiatives.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the operational health of the data platform, including monitoring, alerting, on-call, and incident response. Define, track, and improve metrics for the team's operational health and data platform performance.
What You'll Bring:
10+ years of industry experience with at least 4+ years experience managing multiple engineering teams working on large scale, complex, and highly available environments.
Proven experience leading, mentoring, and growing high-performing engineering teams.
Strong background in contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of complex data systems.
Hands-on experience building and managing real-time and batch data pipelines.
Experience with technologies like Snowflake, Athena,, Clickhouse, Flink, Kafka, and Airflow.
Proficiency with big data technologies such as Spark, Python, DBT, and SQL, including leveraging Snowpark for advanced analytical workloads.
Familiarity with the latest Generative AI technologies for data engineering development (e.g., Cursor, Copilot).
Experience defining and reporting on team-specific operational metrics, and managing on-call responsibilities.
Solid understanding of CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions), observability platforms (e.g., DataDog, MonteCarlo), and monitoring best practices. Experience defining and reporting on team-specific operational metrics.
Experience with implementing shift-left data governance principles, including data quality, lineage, and access control.
Familiarity with metadata management tools and concepts, such as data catalogs and metadata registries.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with a proven ability to drive cross-functional data platform initiatives.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
B.S., M.S., or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.

We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation.The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $202,000 USD - $270,200 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location.
