The Senior Engineer will develop software applications, contribute to cloud infrastructure modernization, and manage tools for continuous integration and deployment, focusing on data-driven decisions and automation.
Our Purpose
At Xero, we’re here to help you supercharge your business. We do this by automating routine tasks, surfacing actionable insights and connecting businesses with the right data, advisors and apps. When that happens, we’re not only making life better for small business, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.
Platform Elements is a cross-functional agile infrastructure development team. The Platform team builds platform products to enable Xero development teams to build and ship software in a fast, reliable and secure manner. Platform leverages modern cloud computing tooling and continuous integration practices. Through our customer centric approach we aim to reduce the cognitive load for Xero Product teams.
They embed with teams or engage through targeted projects to tackle complex, high-priority work which fast-tracks uplifting systems to follow best practices. For example, migrating systems from manually-created EC2 instances to immutable containers running on Kubernetes, or implementing automated build/deploy pipelines in CI configured via code.
Our product engineering teams are their “internal customer” - so working effectively across a large group of people as a team is a key to success. They operate Delivery & Support services centered on uplifting non-functional aspects of software, through enabling and helping engineers to continuously improve their systems. They take pride in measurement, and extend this to capturing feedback from our customers to learn and improve on the services we deliver to them.
The team
The Postmodernisers are responsible for maintaining and extending Xero's tooling for creating cloud infrastructure for Windows applications and deploying to it. They work to modernise this fleet and create pathways for teams to move to a containerised future.
