The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Senior Engineer, Firmware Test Development in the Enterprise SSD division at Samsung.
What You’ll Do
- Develop black-box functional test coverage and methodologies for NVMe SSDs to validate firmware.
- Ensure functional test coverage aligns with product specifications and customer requirements.
- Investigate and debug test failures; collaborate with the firmware team to reproduce issues and design experiments.
- Analyze customer-reported issues and enhance test coverage to address identified gaps.
- Collaborate effectively with both local and international teams, including U.S.-based and global OEM customers.
Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office / U.S. headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ year of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming background with proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, C, and Linux shell scripting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Solid understanding of PCIe/NVMe (or SAS) protocols.
- Familiarity with enterprise storage or server systems; hands-on experience with both Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Experience with storage testing tools, including performance benchmarking, I/O stress testing, protocol compliance tools, and bug tracking systems.

Base Pay Range
$134,400—$201,600 USD
