Senior Engineer  Cloud Services

The Opportunity: 

 

We are currently on the lookout for a Senior Engineer – Cloud Services to join our team and contribute to the Planning, designing and building of technical solutions and application controls in Public and Private Cloud as well as Linux-based workloads. The right candidate must be able to understand the needs for new initiatives and server build requirements to build secure, scalable, distributed and high-performance computing cloud-based platform solutions on GCP, AWS and Azure. They should also be able to provide our clients with optimal solutions for critical issues, and to propose or recommend improvements in their work environments. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Contributing to the infrastructure provisioning, deployment and monitoring that will support, enhance and grow Data Platforms 

  • Managing and optimizing cloud resources on cloud platforms to ensure both cost-efficiency and high performance of the Data Platforms 

  • Working collaboratively in a cross-functionalteam in an Agile delivery environment  

  • Being involved in projects throughout their full software lifecycle: from development,QA, and deployment to post-production support 

  • Providing support through troubleshooting of technical issues, unblocking users and detecting root cause(s) based on SLAs 

  • Patch management and coordinating patch schedules with other teams such as security, change management, incident management and Dev teams 

  • Developing and enforcing best practices for infrastructure management, security, and compliance 

  • Preparing and maintaining documentation related to infrastructure setup, processes, and procedures 

  • Ensuring the security of Data Platform infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations 

  • Systems alert monitoring and proactively managing Data Platform systems and application issues 

 

Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, and 3-5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering/Platform Engineering 

  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform 

  • Strong understanding of networking (VPC, subnets, firewall rules, private services) 

  • Solid knowledge of IAM, service accounts, workload identity, and security best practices 

  • Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, DataStream, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Run/Functions & Cloud Composer, etc. 

  • Strong knowledge in DevOps tools such as Infrastructure as Code: Terraform/Terragrunt, Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD, Ansible for infrastructure provisioning & Automation 

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines - Git-based workflows or Cloud Build or any 

  • Proficiency in RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or other Linux distributions and having RHCS certification or any other Linux administration-based certification would be an added advantage 

  • Scripting or programming skills (Python, Bash, GO, or similar) 

  • Adherence to engineering process, standards, and best practices 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders  

  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability technologies such as Datadog or equivalent will be an added advantage 

  • Working experience in production-scale data platforms will be an added advantage 

  • Experience integrating third-party data tools (e.g., Fivetran, Informatica) will be an added advantage 

  • Certifications in the areas of GCP will be an added advantage 

  • Experience in AWS or Azure will be an added advantage
