ROLE OVERVIEW
Pivot Energy is seeking a collaborative Senior Director of Procurement to lead procurement strategy and drive competitive advantages for our national portfolio of solar PV and energy storage projects. The Senior Director will play a key role in qualifying, developing, and maintaining a portfolio of strategic vendor relationships while supporting the Technical Operations team in delivering operational assets. This position will lead a procurement team responsible for negotiating strategic equipment procurement agreements, preparing and issuing purchase orders, managing equipment storage and logistics, fostering vendor relationships, and other duties, as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, qualify, and manage new and existing equipment and logistics suppliers.
- Lead diligence reviews to qualify vendors and equipment for Pivot’s approved vendor list.
- Lead regular strategic partnership meetings with key suppliers to set commercial goals, address technical considerations, and develop opportunities for additional business.
- Negotiate supply agreements, purchase orders, and logistics agreements.
- Coordinate with internal and external counsel in support of supplier agreement negotiations
- Guide the procurement team to manage logistics from supplier to site, including insurance delivery coordination and warehousing.
- Identify and implement strategies to maximize domestic content and other incentive-driven procurement strategies to enhance Pivot’s competitive differentiation.
- Explore opportunities with external entities to de-risk and lower the costs of procurement.
- Initiate and maintain relationships with suppliers of existing and emerging technologies to identify new prospective solutions.
- Coordinate with the internal Development, EPC, and Finance teams as well as external consultants to ensure meeting development and construction milestones, procurement and logistics risks are communicated and mitigated, and project returns are maximized.
- Establish a Supplier Code of Conduct and methods to validate all Pivot suppliers are in adherence.
- Identify and mitigate international trade disputes, tariff risks, and other supply-chain issues.
- Maintain close contact across the procurement landscape to anticipate and mitigate changes in supply chain and logistics.
- Interface with the Finance team in support of the procurement diligence process for funding agreements.
- Maintain supplier database with core project inputs and status updates, including development and management of supplier pre-qualification process.
- Assist in the acquisition of development assets and/or platforms on an as-needed basis.
- Additional duties, as required.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- 5+ years of experience in an equipment procurement role supporting commercial and community-scale solar and energy storage project development.
- 3+ years of people management experience, demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and is not afraid to ask questions and take on tasks outside of their comfort zone.
- Strong relationship builder who can facilitate cross-functional procurement strategy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex evaluation processes for a significant number of projects while anticipating project requirements across different development scopes and markets.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
- Experience in structuring and negotiating long-term strategic agreements with equipment vendors.
- Knowledge of solar and storage equipment design and specifications.
