About The Role

Within the Corporate Finance practice, our Power, Renewables & Energy Transition (“PRET”) team is a leading adviser to operators, developers, lenders, equity and infrastructure investors, law firms, and utilities in the US, UK, Europe and internationally. We have been involved in a wide range of engagements drawing on our finance, accounting, economic, technical and industry expertise. We provide critical insight and advisory support in the context of strategic decision-making, financial and operational restructuring, due diligence, transaction advisory, merger integration, business carve-outs and performance improvement. The sectors we work in span the energy industry and include solar, wind, energy storage, utilities, nuclear, advanced manufacturing for strategic industries, critical minerals extraction and processing, commodity trading, and thermal generation, amongst others and our team is increasingly active across the metals and mining sector.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a metals and mining expert who can lead workstreams on PRET engagements, such as running technical and commercial diligence, in a client advisory role. At FTI, Senior Directors have a central role on projects, taking day-to-day responsibility for delivery, organization of the work into streams, and the effective use of staff members. Senior Directors will work with other senior project team members to develop the approach to projects, or parts of large projects, and are responsible for anticipating, identifying and resolving issues and keeping the senior project team members informed of progress. Senior Directors are responsible for project workstreams and the preparation of major client deliverables, including their structure and content.

What You Will Need To Succeed  

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant post-graduate professional experience, including significant exposure to metals & mining across operating assets and development projects

  • Proven ability to lead technical, operational and commercial diligence in the metals and mining sector — comfortable discussing mine plans, reserves/resources, processing flowsheets, asset management, and offtake

  • Experience translating technical considerations into financial and commercial outcomes (e.g., project finance, lender/investor diligence, capital raises, or restructuring)

  • Ability to perform robust analysis on complex technical, economic and financial issues

  • Ability to travel to clients and to FTI offices as needed

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field

  • 10+ years of relevant post-graduate experience

  • Experience in physical commodity trading

  • Rare earths and/or magnet experience a plus

  • Demonstrated consulting skillset (e.g., client-facing roles)

  • Excellent communication skills — able to make complex ideas digestible and articulate financial information clearly

  • Proven project and people management, with a track record of leading client engagements and delivering exceptional service

Compensation
Minimum Pay: $154,500
Maximum Pay: $302,000
Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
