Position Summary: 

EverDriven is seeking a Senior Director, Safety, Legal Operations & Compliance to serve as the company’s central owner of student safety, regulatory compliance, and legal operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that all students are transported safely to and from school each day by translating safety, legal, and regulatory requirements into clear, effective, and low-friction operational practices. 

The Senior Director will lead EverDriven’s safety oversight framework, regulatory and political compliance programs, contract and MOU review processes, and quarterly audits. This role will also oversee a company-wide transformation of compliance and safety systems, driving more seamless, technology-enabled workflows that support field teams, protect students, and enable scalable growth—while fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000/year, based on experience + bonus potential 
Location - Greenwood Village, CO. Hybrid role – 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. 
Responsibilities: 
  • Safety Leadership & Regulatory Compliance 
    • Serve as EverDriven’s central owner of student safety, ensuring all students are transported safely to and from school each day while meeting or exceeding all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. 
    • Establish safety and compliance standards that not only meet regulatory requirements but position EverDriven as an industry leader in safe, reliable student transportation. 
    • Monitor evolving safety, education, and transportation regulations and proactively raise EverDriven’s practices ahead of industry norms. 
  • Political, Legal & Ethical Compliance 
    • Oversee political compliance activities, including tracking, reporting, and filing political contributions, lobbying disclosures, and related requirements. 
    • Ensure all political and legal activities are conducted ethically, transparently, and in alignment with EverDriven’s values and risk tolerance. 
  • Contract, Legal & Safety Operations 
    • Manage contract and MOU review processes, including third-party vendor agreements and school district contracts, with a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and operational feasibility. 
    • Ensure contractual commitments reinforce EverDriven’s safety standards while supporting efficient, scalable operations. 
  • Compliance, Safety Systems & Process Excellence 
    • Lead the transformation and modernization of compliance and safety systems to create seamless, technology-enabled workflows that support field teams and operational excellence. 
    • Design and implement compliance and safety processes that minimize friction, support consistent execution, and scale with company growth. 
    • Translate safety and regulatory requirements into practical, actionable guidance that enables high-quality service delivery. 
  • Audits, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement 
    • Plan, manage, and execute quarterly compliance and safety audits, ensuring findings are addressed through clear remediation plans and sustained improvements. 
    • Use audit outcomes, incident data, and operational feedback to continuously improve safety, compliance, and risk management practices. 
  • Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership 
    • Lead and develop a team of two compliance specialists, fostering accountability, professional growth, and a strong safety-first mindset. 
    • Partner closely with policy, legal, operations, technology, and field leadership to embed safety, compliance, and operational excellence into daily workflows and strategic initiatives. 
Requirements
  • 5–7 years of experience in safety, compliance, legal operations, or contract management roles, preferably within regulated or mission-driven industries 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) required; CPA or similar credential preferred 
  • Demonstrated leadership in regulatory and safety compliance across multiple jurisdictions 
  • Proven ability to design and implement safety and compliance programs that exceed regulatory requirements and support operational excellence 
  • Strong understanding of how safety and compliance requirements impact field operations and internal teams, with the ability to reduce friction while maintaining rigor 
  • Experience leading systems implementations, process transformations, or technology-enabled compliance initiatives 
  • Track record of managing audits, risk assessments, and remediation efforts with disciplined follow-through 
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and systems-thinking skills 
  • Clear, confident communicator capable of translating legal and safety requirements for non-legal, operational audiences 
  • Collaborative, accountable leader with high integrity, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to student safety and continuous improvement
