About the role

We’re looking for a senior, hands-on data leader to join Point as Head of Data. You’ll lead Point’s analytics, data engineering, and data science teams, with a strong emphasis on using data to drive better business decisions and measurable impact across the company.

You’ll inherit a modern data platform and strong technical foundation, and your mandate is to raise the bar on analytical rigor, experimentation, and business impact. This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys setting direction, staying close to the work, and ensuring data efforts are tightly aligned to the problems that matter most to the business. This role reports to our Chief Growth Officer.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for Point’s data function across analytics, data engineering, and data science.
  • Operate and evolve a modern data stack (Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Estuary, Sigma, Hightouch, PostHog), with a focus on data modeling, metrics design, and analytical usability.
  • Own company-wide metric definitions, experimentation standards, and analytics prioritization, driving clarity, consistency, and accountability in decision-making.
  • Lead and actively contribute to Point’s analytics function, ensuring insights, metrics, and experimentation meaningfully influence business decisions.
  • Build more scalable infrastructure and workflows for data science, enabling higher-impact modeling, analysis, and experimentation.
  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing data team.

About you

  • 12+ years of experience in data roles, with senior leadership experience across analytics, analytics engineering, data engineering, and/or data science in high-growth technology companies (bonus points for fintech or similar).
  • Proven track record building and leading data teams that drive meaningful business outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in metrics, experimentation, and decision-oriented analytics; you’ve owned analytical frameworks that directly influenced strategy and execution.
  • Strong technical and systems foundation, with the ability to evaluate data architectures, tooling, and data science approaches.
  • Track record of translating ambiguous business problems into clear analytical approaches and outcomes.
  • Enjoys being hands-on when needed and knows when to delegate.
  • Clear communicator and trusted leader who sets a high bar and invests in their team.

Our benefits

  • Generous health benefits: We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with options for flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA).
  • Unlimited paid time off: Recharge with unlimited paid time off and 10 company holidays.
  • Flexible remote and onsite work: Our teams work from many different locations and time zones. We support fully remote work and also have an amazing in-person environment in our downtown Palo Alto, CA HQ.
  • Fully paid parental leave: Point will supplement state Paid Family Leave (PFL) so employees receive 100% of their regular base pay, plus two additional weeks of fully paid leave after state PFL ends. In states without PFL, Point offers up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave. In addition, employees also receive 4 weeks of fully paid transition time, during which you may work 2–3 days per week while receiving full base pay.
  • Equity: We offer meaningful equity because we believe in sharing the value you help create. Your contributions directly impact our growth, and your equity gives you a stake in our future success.
  • Financial wellness:  We provide 401K retirement plans for employees as well as guaranteed life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Extra work/life benefits: We provide monthly stipends for internet, mobile plans, wellness perks, and a one-time home office reimbursement.

Compensation at Point will be determined by skills, experience, and geographic location. Point has identified the expected annual base salary for this role at this level based on the market by tiers (Region | Location | Market Salary):

  • Tier 1 | San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Seattle | $263,000 - $343,000

At the offer stage, we use the signal we received from our interviews, coupled with your experience, location, and other job-related factors, to determine final compensation.
