Role Overview

The Senior Director of Content Strategy will lead the vision, development, and execution of Calix’s global content strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping how Calix tells its story across all channels—digital, social, events, and media—while driving measurable impact on brand awareness, demand generation, and customer engagement. Success in this role means building a high-performing content engine that informs, educates, and inspires our audiences, positioning Calix as a thought leader and trusted partner in the broadband industry.

Core Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Define and own the content strategy aligned to corporate marketing priorities and business goals.

  • Lead a team of content strategists, writers, and production specialists to deliver high-quality, persona-driven content across campaigns, newsletters, blogs, videos, and social platforms.

  • Serve as managing editor for flagship programs such as The Leadership Beacon newsletter and thought leadership blogs.

  • Partner with product marketing, demand generation, and external agencies to create integrated content plans that fuel the sales funnel.

  • Oversee development of lead-generation assets (white papers, case studies, infographics, videos) and ensure SEO/AEO optimization for all digital content.

  • Drive executive thought leadership initiatives, including blog contributions, media placements, and speaking opportunities.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for content performance; leverage analytics to optimize strategy and recommend next best actions.

  • Manage external agency relationships and freelance talent to scale content production efficiently.

  • Ensure brand consistency across all content and maintain editorial standards and style guides.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy, marketing communications, or editorial leadership, preferably in B2B technology.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, manage complex projects, and deliver measurable business impact.

  • Expertise in content marketing best practices, SEO/AEO, and digital publishing.

  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills.

  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Marketing or Communications.

  • Experience in broadband, telecom, or SaaS industries.

  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms and analytics tools.

  • Track record of building thought leadership programs and managing high-profile content initiatives.

  • Experience with Adobe AEM, Workfront, Target.

KPIs and Success Metrics

  • Content Engagement: Growth in engagement rates across blogs, newsletters, and social channels.

  • Lead Generation: Increase in marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) driven by content assets.

  • SEO/AEO Performance: Improvement in organic search rankings and website traffic from content.

  • Thought Leadership Impact: Number of executive placements in media and speaking opportunities secured.

  • Content Velocity & Automation: Volume and timeliness of content delivered against campaign timelines.

  • Conversion Metrics: Contribution of content to pipeline acceleration and closed-won deals.

  • Audience Growth: Expansion of subscriber base for newsletters and social followers.

The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

San Francisco Bay Area:

217,400 - 347,300 USD Annual

Select US Metros and States:

189,000 - 302,000 USD Annual

Other US Locations:

170,100 - 271,800 USD Annual
