The Senior DevOps Engineer will design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, and implement security best practices. Responsibilities include optimizing workflows and embedding observability into cloud environments while ensuring compliance and collaboration across teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, including VPCs, IAM, networking, and resource provisioning following organizational best practices.
- Build and maintain Kubernetes clusters for workload orchestration, including writing and managing manifests, deployments, and cluster configurations.
- Develop and manage Helm charts for deploying and packaging complex applications across environments.
- Implement and maintain GitOps workflows using ArgoCD for continuous delivery to Kubernetes clusters.
- Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Use Crossplane for declarative, Kubernetes-based infrastructure-as-code to manage cloud resources.
- Write and maintain Ansible playbooks for configuration management, automation, and deployment scripting.
- Embed security throughout the DevOps lifecycle (DevSecOps), including IAM policies, secret management, encryption, and compliance enforcement.
- Build and maintain observability infrastructure, including logging, metrics, alerting, and distributed tracing.
- Champion code review practices, Git branching strategies, and collaboration standards across the engineering organization.
- Drive automated testing integration within CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality and coverage.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Strong proficiency with Kubernetes, including cluster management, workload orchestration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Crossplane, Terraform, or Pulumi.
- Solid experience with Helm for Kubernetes package management.
- Working knowledge of ArgoCD or similar GitOps continuous delivery tools.
- Experience with configuration management tools, particularly Ansible.
- Strong understanding of security best practices: IAM, secrets management, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency with Git, including branching strategies and pull request workflows.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across distributed systems and cloud environments.
- Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Crossplane for infrastructure-as-code, including authoring Compositions and managing cloud resources via Kubernetes-native APIs.
- Experience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK stack, or similar).
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
- Experience operating in a fully remote engineering organization.
- Knowledge of container security scanning and runtime protection tools.
- Contributions to open-source DevOps tooling or community projects.
- Based in or near Atlanta, GA (not required but preferred for occasional in-person collaboration).
