Business Wire, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is the global market leader in press release distribution and regulatory disclosure. We are on a mission to redefine how organizations connect with their audiences - and that’s just the beginning!

Organizations, large and small, depend on us to accurately publicize market-moving news and multimedia, and generate social engagements that develop interactions with their target audiences.

About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines across Business Wire’s cloud and hybrid environments. You will collaborate with software engineering, architecture, and operations teams to drive automation, CI/CD maturity, and infrastructure reliability.

This is a senior technical role that requires deep expertise in cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD frameworks, and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS). You will lead strategic initiatives that enhance deployment velocity, system reliability, and operational efficiency, helping shape the next generation of Business Wire’s Cloud Automation Platform.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and other modern DevOps tools to enable automated, reliable multi-environment deployments.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Cloud Formation or AWS CDK.
  • Architect and operate AWS-based infrastructure with a focus on automation, security, scalability, and cost optimization, leveraging best practices for multi-account, multi-region setups.
  • Lead GitOps adoption by implementing continuous deployment patterns, declarative configuration management, and automated reconciliation using ArgoCD
  • Build and extend the Internal Developer Portal (IDP) — such as Backstage — to improve developer experience, service onboarding, and self-service infrastructure provisioning.
  • Collaborate closely with application development, architecture, and platform engineering teams to integrate DevOps best practices throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Implement observability frameworks including monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing to ensure the reliability and performance of all environments (e.g., OpenSearch, New Relic, CloudWatch).
  • Drive automation across infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment workflows
  • Support and optimize containerized and serverless workloads using Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and AWS Lambda, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews, contributing DevOps and cloud automation perspectives
  • Champion CI/CD platform, self-service, reusability, consistency, security, policies and compliance automation
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to platform documentation to promote best practices in CI/CD, GitOps, and cloud automation across teams.

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-native architectures and DevOps automation solutions at scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert-level experience (5+ years) building and maintaining scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools, including multi-environment deployment automation, release governance, and rollback workflows.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, including cluster provisioning, scaling strategies, workload orchestration, Helm, and manifest management.
  • Strong experience with Docker and containerized application lifecycle management across Dev, Stage, and Prod environments.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform (preferred), AWS CDK, or CloudFormation, with emphasis on reusable modules, versioning, and environment consistency.
  • Advanced AWS proficiency, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudFormation, and related networking, monitoring, and security components.
  • Proven experience implementing GitOps practices using tools like ArgoCD or Flux, supporting automated, declarative deployments and continuous reconciliation.
  • Experience with Internal Developer Portals (IDP) such as Backstage, Humanitec, or Port, to streamline developer onboarding, service catalogs, and self-service infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Terraform, Python, Bash, or Go) for building internal tooling, automation pipelines, and platform integrations.
  • Knowledge of observability tools and practices, including metrics, tracing, and logging solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, OpenSearch, New Relic, Datadog).
  • Understanding of security and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2) and how to integrate them into CI/CD and cloud automation pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Architecture, SRE, Platform, and Engineering teams to drive adoption of modern DevOps and platform engineering practices.
  • Business Wire will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

    What We Offer
  • The base salary range for this position is $168K to $175K/year.  Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.  Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.

  • Business Wire’s total rewards include:
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Excellent health benefits that begin on your first day of employment
  • $100 monthly fitness allotment, a tuition reimbursement program, and enhanced mental health resources
  • 401(k) plan with generous company match, and annual profit sharing contribution (subject to company performance)
  • PTO, Floating Holidays, Wellness Day Off, Birthday Day Off, and more!

A pre-employment background check will be required after the acceptance of an offer. Business Wire is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
