In this role, you will be a key player in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cutting-edge cloud infrastructure. You'll spend about 60% of your time on DevOps responsibilities—enhancing our CI/CD pipelines and improving system reliability—while dedicating 40% to hands-on programming to boost performance and bridge the gap between development and operations. If you are passionate about both infrastructure and code, this is the perfect opportunity to make a significant impact.

Our Techstack:

  • Front-End: React, React Native
  • Server: Ruby on Rails, .NET, Phoenix (Elixir)

  • Data Storage: PostgreSQL, Redis, Databricks

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design, build, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines for smooth and efficient software delivery.
  • Dive into our core application (written in C# and Ruby), making it more thread-safe, enhancing performance, and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Play a significant role in the ongoing migration of our infrastructure from AWS to Azure.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and uphold security best practices across our entire platform.
  • Enhance and support our infrastructural observability, availability, and containerization strategies.
  • Mentor other engineers on the effective and secure use of our platform, tools, and processes.
  • Participate in a low-frequency on-call rotation, typically one week every 4-6 weeks.
  • Ensure our infrastructure is robust, scalable, and meets the demands of a high-availability SaaS product.

Key Projects You'll Tackle:

  • Performance & Scalability: Drive major performance initiatives, including implementing Karpenter for cluster autoscaling, migrating our web servers from Unicorn to Puma, and adopting YJIT for Ruby.
  • Cost Optimization: After the Azure migration, you will lead efforts to analyze and optimize our cloud resource costs.
  • Enhanced Monitoring: Architect and implement next-generation monitoring and observability solutions to give us deeper insights into system health.
  • Azure Security: Take an active role in hardening our Azure environment and improving our overall security posture.

At Syncro, we're not just solving hard problems – we're having a blast doing it! Join our team and be part of a culture that celebrates innovation and collaboration.

Must have Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and automation.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in a high-level programming language, with a strong preference for C# or Ruby.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and experience with SQL query optimization.
  • Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Deep technical knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure is preferred).
    • Compute: Strong knowledge of services like Azure Virtual Machines, AKS, and Azure Functions.
    • Storage & Networking: A good understanding of Azure Blob Storage, Virtual Networks, and Load Balancers.
    • Security: Experience with Azure Security Center, Key Vault, and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.
  • Strong command of Linux operating systems and shell scripting (Bash).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, NewRelic, ELK stack).
  • Experience with NGINX as a web server, reverse proxy, or load balancer.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • You are comfortable working remotely and are a proactive communicator.
  • You care—which means sometimes putting yourself out there for a customer or a colleague.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Experience with application security tooling (SAST/DAST) in a cloud environment.
  • Prior experience with AWS and Azure, as it will be beneficial during our migration project.
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare network management tools.
