About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team and serve as the right hand to the Director of Platform Engineering. In this role you will design, build, and operate infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability and security guard-rails across our B2B SaaS platform. You will also help lead the team when the Director is unavailable, mentor and upskill team members, and work broadly across engineering and ISV partner teams to enable secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and operate infrastructure and services in AWS
- Manage infrastructure-as-code with Terraform to provision, maintain, and evolve environments with versioning, drift detection, and safe change processes.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy (and GitHub Enterprise/Actions) that support frequent, safe deployments of our services.
- Develop and maintain Python automation and tooling to support deployment, configuration, monitoring, service orchestration, and self-service for engineering teams.
- Lead observability efforts: implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, SLOs/SLIs, and incident response instrumentation — primarily using Datadog.
- Manage the operational side of platform security and cost-optimization: you will be part of the team’s overall SecOps and FinOps responsibilities
- Act as a de facto deputy to the Director: when the Director is unavailable, you’ll help drive day-to-day operations, set priorities, coordinate work across the team, and ensure platform deliverables.
- Mentor, coach, and upskill other Platform/DevOps engineers: share best practices, training, reviews, pair work, and help build a culture of continuous improvement.
- Interface effectively with other engineering teams (product teams, services teams, ISV partners) to understand dependencies, platform needs, partner integrations, and deployment flows.
- Work cross-team (engineering, security, operations, ISV partners) to align platform capabilities with business and partner needs, anticipate dependencies, reduce friction, and improve developer experience.
- Document infrastructure, processes, standards, and runbooks so the platform team can operate reliably and scale.
- Participate in on-call/rotation and incident management (as required) to ensure service availability and reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong software engineering foundation (e.g., prior experience building software or services) and scripting/development skills in Python.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS across a broad range of services.
- Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (designing modules, managing state, multi-environment strategies, handling drift).
- Proven experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and GitHub Enterprise/Actions.
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise: branching strategies, pull requests, GitHub Actions/workflows, code review practices.
- Observability experience: configuring monitoring/logging/alerting dashboards, setting SLIs/SLOs, working with Datadog (or equivalent) to measure reliability and performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: able to articulate technical concepts to engineers, partner teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a leader: stepping into team lead or deputy-lead responsibilities, coordinating across the team when the Director is out.
- Mentoring and coaching mindset: able to support the upskilling of team members and raise the overall team capability.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working cross-team, interfacing with engineering teams, partner (ISV) teams, and stakeholders.
- Experience working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment where scalability, automation, and reliability are critical.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect) or equivalent.
- Experience with FinOps / cost-optimization of cloud environments and SecOps (cloud-native security controls, guardrails, IAM, compliance).
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Fargate) at scale.
- Experience building self-service developer tooling or internal platform APIs for other engineering teams.
