Job Summary

We are recruiting an experienced Developer Advocate who will join our team to help us achieve these goals. In this role, you will become a technical expert in FusionAuth’s product and space. You will create educational, user-friendly content that enables developers to be successful with FusionAuth, and with identity and access management in general. You will create videos, talks, campaigns, and foster collaboration and partnerships, as well as deliver and act on feedback from customers and community members to improve the product and deliver a great user experience. This position is remote, and reports to the Senior Director of Developer Relations.
Responsibilities

  • Create content and technical resources, including but not limited to videos, blog posts, presentations, sample apps, live webinars, guides, etc. that educate developers on identity, security, development, and more
  • Identify opportunities to creatively engage more deeply with developers and improve their FusionAuth experience
  • Be an accessible, knowledgeable resource for developers who want or need to learn about authentication and authorization
  • Work with Documentation, Engineering, and Product to deliver product and developer experience feedback and act upon it accordingly
  • Work with the broader Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Solutions Engineering, and Support teams to gather developer feedback and create resources, content, and campaigns to address gaps or pain points
  • Put yourself in the shoes of a new user to test and review new FusionAuth product features, SDKs, and other developer tools
  • Propose and implement campaigns and strategies to increase developer engagement, build community, and improve the FusionAuth developer experience
  • Establish relationships with complementary companies and collaborate to mutually increase technical partnership, presence, reach, and trust
  • Be willing and able to travel to speak at conferences and live events, and converse with developers and customers at sponsorship exhibitions

Qualifications

Required

  • Able to easily identify developer friction and pain points and know how to address them with empathy through content and DX
  • Experience in identity (authentication, authorization, access management, security)
  • Experience using data to drive your decisions and priorities and ability to demonstrate progress and success through key metrics
  • 3+ years in a public-facing technical Developer Relations role (DevEx, Dev Advocacy, Dev Evangelism, and/or Community)
  • Web or software development expertise: able to build (and explain) real world applications integrating auth, access control, and user management
  • Experience creating deeply technical content taking complex concepts and presenting them in an approachable way through a variety of content mediums (e.g., talks, videos, blogs, sample apps, workshops, etc.)
  • Expertise presenting and public speaking to developer audiences
  • Experience working in a distributed team
  • Experience working at a scaling startup and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong internal collaboration and team-player Developer Advocacy skills (practice a “pack” mindset, not “lone wolf”)
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally (~30-50%)

Preferred

Here are some qualities that we think will support your success at FusionAuth.

  • Have an understanding of developer relations maturity stages through company growth, and know what approaches are appropriate as the DevRel motion matures
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to drive things to completion
  • You thrive in a startup environment full of ambiguity and context switching and have been an active participant in hyper-growth recurring revenue tech startup companies
  • Able to roll up your sleeves and get things done in early days while also seeing the bigger picture
  • Able to manage both strategy and tactics, and have experience wearing multiple hats in a strongly collaborative environment

Compensation

  • $140 - 170k expected base salary range*
