WHO WE ARE
Hook is a Creative Production Agency. With a collaborative, maker-centric team, and an emphasis on production-led design, we develop creative campaigns, short-form content, and websites for well known brands.
Our mission is to integrate creative and production to help grow brands faster. But we believe what’s most important are the people who work with us and the experience they have along the way. We want clients to think of us as the best agency they’ve ever worked with, and we want everyone at Hook to feel like this is the best job they’ve had yet.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Senior Visual Designer and systems thinker to lead campaigns. You should be a master of design fundamentals who knows how to strategically push—or break—brand rules to evolve our visual identity. We need a designer who provides multiple viable creative directions and can effectively self-audit their work, considering how design choices affect high-volume production and ladder up to broader brand initiatives. You don’t design in a vacuum; you think "downstream" about the technical and strategic impact of your work while maintaining a high creative bar. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, possessing the ability to distill vague briefs or shifting client feedback into clear, actionable design solutions. You will accurately scope projects and remain an independent, accountable partner during fast-paced sprints.
This is a fully remote role, but please be aware that this client is based on the East Coast.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead high-impact brand campaigns from concept through execution using a systems-thinking approach, spending approximately 60% of your time on visual design and concept development and 40% on production-focused execution.
- Use your expertise in type, grid, and color to evolve our visual language—knowing exactly when to stick to the rules and when to strategically break them to keep the brand engaging.
- Provide multiple viable creative directions for every brief, avoiding one-dimensional solutions.
- Self-audit all work for quality and strategic alignment before moving to review or production.
- Anticipate the "downstream" impact of design choices on high-volume production and technical specs, including building and evolving scalable templates across platforms.
- Distill vague briefs and shifting client feedback into clear, actionable design solutions.
- Ensure every visual execution ladders up to broader brand initiatives and business goals.
- Jump into projects mid-stream and gain immediate momentum without sacrificing quality.
- Manage and track evolving technical requirements across various platforms during fast-paced sprints, while contributing across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Accurately scope work and maintain independent accountability for all deadlines.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 6-8+ years of experience working in an advertising agency and/or recognized brand
- Demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship in design, with experience leading campaign-level visual systems that scale across multiple assets and platforms.
- Be a master of Figma and Photoshop, fluent in Google Workspace, and comfortable working in high-volume production environments.
- Have outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Imaginative, collaborative, conceptual and curious.
- Have an optimistic outlook toward client revisions, knowing when and how to offer opportunities to push boundaries creatively.
- Generate and maintain enthusiasm for ideas within the agency as they move from concept to execution.
- Experience building or evolving scalable templates and design systems for campaigns is strongly preferred.
- While prior experience working directly with entertainment (or sports) brands is not a mandatory requirement, it is certainly considered a valuable asset and a significant advantage for potential candidates.
- Have an enthusiasm for team leadership and mentorship.
