About the teamZillow Group’s Strategic Analytics & Data Science team provides a metrics-driven lens on our strategy and uncovers the insights that move it forward. We partner across Zillow’s lines of business—accelerating proofs of concept, defining cross-LOB “north-star” metrics, and tackling high-ambiguity, high-impact analyses. We’re innovators, data storytellers, and AI accelerators who thrive on independent thinking and driving measurable business outcomes.

About the role

We’re looking for a Sr. Data Visualization Engineer to join our team. You’ll own the and build key dashboards, metrics, and visual frameworks for our team - including the company source of truth metrics used for company-wide business review meetings. You will also own the future vision and evolution of the company strategy reporting website, used to share metrics and disseminate key information across the company. This role will include building data pipelines fed by cross-functional data sources from across the company, ensuring high-visibility metrics stay accurate and up to date, and harnessing AI/ML tools to push our visualizations and self-service reporting to the next level. In addition, you will put your data skills to work by performing analysis to help uncover business insights, to inform Zillow’s strategy and long-term roadmap.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve the company reporting strategy internal site (currently Google App Script-based) using scripting or AI tools to design and implement solutions.

  • Build, maintain, and optimize multiple high-visibility dashboards and data visualizations that inform executive and cross-functional decision-making.

  • Build and maintain data pipelines following best practices for Databricks (e.g. dbt, version control), enforcing quality and consistency in metrics and dashboards.

  • Analyze company-wide datasets to answer business questions, identify trends, and surface actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Tell stories with data - communicate complex analyses and insights to cross-functional stakeholders, including Zillow’s most senior leaders.

  • Translate complex data questions into clear visual stories that drive strategic decisions.

  • Create scale-able self-service analytical frameworks to be used by product, operations, marketing, and executive partners in analyzing both the current state of the business and a suite of forward-looking options.

  • Scope, estimate, and execute strategic analyses (e.g., cross-business and cross-functional projects ranging from broad company-wide analyses to deep-dives to support individual business initiatives).
