The Role
The Global Engineering Operations & Specifications (GEOS) AI Partnerships & Implementation team is dedicated to executing AI and data science initiatives that transform General Motors' approach to vehicle engineering. As part of this team, the individual will collaborate with experts who possess deep knowledge of GM's engineering systems, processes, and data. Leveraging a comprehensive data science toolkit and an innovative mindset, the individual will contribute to ideation and execution of projects aimed at improving engineering efficiency across the organization. Core responsibilities include engaging with stakeholders to understand and frame technical challenges, designing and implementing new data pipelines, developing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions, and creating user interfaces that support seamless integration and direct decision-making.

What You'll Do
- Work as a member of a cross-functional team to propose and implement high-impact data driven analytic solutions that address challenges for engineering teams
- Apply Data Science and Modeling techniques to drive data driven decision making and solve complex problems:
- Build predictive/prescriptive models and machine-learning algorithms
- Analyze large amounts of diverse information to discover trends and patterns
- Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
- Monitor and sustain model effectiveness
- Present complex information using data visualization techniques
- Work with diverse technical teams to provide analytical dataset pipelines and user interfaces to ensure project deliverables fulfill business needs and timing
- Create technical documents for models and processes
- Present complex information using data visualization techniques and data storytelling
- Create repeatable and scalable code and processes for improving development/execution efficiency.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or another quantitative field
- Minimum five years of industry experience as a Data Scientist developing, deploying, and monitoring performance of large analytic data sets and machine learning based models
- Tool Proficiencies:
- Python or similar coding languages
- SQL, Spark, or similar querying languages
- Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
- DataBricks or similar Data Lake technology platforms
- Capable of working with diverse technical teams to produce analytical datasets for analysis
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects at once without sacrificing quality
- Strong listening and communications skills
- Highly collaborative work style
- Ability to evaluate the big picture and provide meaningful business insights and actions

- Master's/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
