The Data Science team helps Alma achieve its mission by leveraging data to inform business strategy and drive product innovations. In this role, you will apply your expertise in machine learning and analytics to advance Alma’s capabilities in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), which is the domain dedicated to making insurance claims processing more accurate and efficient. By using ML to automate manual processes, Alma can more effectively scale our insurance operations. Examples of projects include building ML models to predict coverage eligibility, financial responsibility, and claim submission errors. You will also leverage your skills in analytics and experimentation to identify new opportunities to improve RCM processes. This is a cross-functional role where you will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and designers to define and execute on the RCM product roadmap.

What you’ll do:

  • Improve the performance of RCM processes by building and launching machine learning models such as insurance eligibility prediction
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B testing experiments to measure model performance and validate product hypotheses
  • Define metrics and create dashboards to measure product performance
  • Generate insights through deep-dive analysis to inform strategy and prioritization
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing stakeholders to define the product roadmap
  • Identify opportunities and initiate new data science projects that drive company OKRs
  • Communicate technical insights effectively to influence decision-making

Who you are:

  • You have a Master’s degree in a relevant quantitative field (e.g. data science, computer science, statistics, economics) or equivalent in industry experience
  • You have 2-4 years of experience as a data scientist supporting product development
  • You are an expert in SQL
  • You are proficient in either R or Python for data analysis
  • You have successfully developed and launched ML models with quantifiable business impact
  • You have experience designing and analyzing A/B testing experiments and guide product decisions with experimental insights
  • You are results-driven and passionate about building great products, with a proven track record of taking projects from inception to launch

Benefits:

  • We’re a remote-first company
  • Health insurance plans through Aetna (medical and dental) and MetLife (vision), including FSA and HSA plans
  • 401K plan (ADP)
  • Monthly therapy and wellness stipends
  • Monthly co-working space membership stipend
  • Monthly work-from-home stipend
  • Financial wellness benefits through Northstar
  • Pet discount program through United Pet Care
  • Financial perks and rewards through BenefitHub
  • EAP access through Aetna

  • Comprehensive parental leave plans
  • 11 paid holidays, 1 Alma Mental Health Day, and 1 Alma Volunteering Day
  • Flexible PTO

Salary Band: $160,000-$190,000

Alma’s compensation philosophy is driven by our company value of building equity. To best ensure pay equity, we typically bring in new hires near the middle of our listed salary bands and we do not negotiate our compensation (i.e. all people hired at the same level & role are brought in at the same salary, equity, and benefits). The recruiter you work with can provide more details on our philosophy.

All Alma jobs are listed on our careers page. We do not use outside applications or automated text messaging in our recruiting process. We will not ask for any sensitive financial or identification information throughout the recruiting process. Any communication during the recruitment process, including interview requests or job offers, will come directly from a recruiting team member with a helloalma.com email address.
