About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help with optimization, support and deployment of our cloud-based data systems that power mission-critical healthcare applications. You’ll play a key role in building secure, scalable, and compliant database solutions using Azure SQL Server, and other cloud-native technologies. Additionally, you will work in supporting the evolution of our analytics lakehouse and all of its data sources. Our platform supports real-time clinical workflows, patient data analytics, and regulatory reporting—so precision, performance, and privacy are paramount.
This is a hybrid role, where having a solid background in administration or operations of data platforms as well as exploring data lakehouse tools and strategy are preferred.

Essential Skills:
- Design, deploy, maintain and support cloud based SQL Server environments across VM’s, Azure SQL and Azure SQL Managed Instance platforms
- Troubleshoot performance issues using standard tools and monitoring platforms, improving client outcomes within our product data platforms
- Ensures high-quality outcomes by refining processes, validating infrastructure changes, and mentoring others on standards.
- Works with product development to adhere to best practices during SDLC
- Takes ownership of support issues, working with other engineering teams on data platform product solutions
- Anticipates customer needs and designs solutions that add long-term value
- Partners with stakeholders to refine requirements and improve outcomes
- Advocates for customer-centric practices within engineering teams
- Mentors junior engineers on processes/procedure using best practices to improve the work environment
- Reviews Data Protection and Compliance technologies ensuring they meet industry standard and best practices
- Ensures high-quality outcomes by refining processes, validating infrastructure changes, and mentoring others on standards
- Ability to leverage log exhaust to create robust real time monitoring and alerting for platforms and processes
- Proactively adjusts to shifting priorities and business needs
- Responds quickly and effectively to complex incidents or outages
- Guides others in managing change and uncertainty in technical environments
Minimum Requirements:
- 5-7+ years of experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL in production environments, ideally within healthcare or regulated industries
- Deep understanding of cloud database architecture, PaaS vs IaaS, and hybrid cloud models
- Expert command of T-SQL, PowerShell, as well as Python or C# for automation and scripting
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards is a plus
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and clinical teams
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Fabric, Databricks or other big data platforms for large-scale healthcare analytics
- Exposure to Python for data engineering, automation, or ML pipeline integration
- Basic understanding of streaming data architectures (e.g., Azure Event Hubs, Kafka) and real-time analytics
- Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, or Lakehouse architectures
- Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data ownership models
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent
