We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to work alongside our balanced agile delivery teams on highly complex DoD projects, specifically the development of a data service for command and control (C2) software.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of professional software development or data engineering experience (4+ with a STEM B.S. or 2+ with a relevant Master's degree)
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Java and Bash scripting
  • Hands-on experience implementing database technologies, messaging systems, and querying spatial / time-series data (e.g., PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Timescale, DuckDB)
  • Familiarity with data serialization languages (e.g., XML, JSON)
  • Experience with data service development using publish-subscribe models (e.g., Apache Kafka and Kafka-based data service architecture)
  • Experience with data parsing and data transformation tools and techniques (i.e., ETL architecture)
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling and database optimization techniques (indexing, partitioning, load balancing, and parallelization)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), and collaborative development workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a US DOD Security Clearance

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with processing streaming data (e.g., full motion video, FMV)
  • Experience processing radar and telemetry data
  • Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment strategies experience (Ansible, Terraform, WebGL)
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, RKE2, Kubernetes)
  • OGC-compliant geospatial information system (GIS) experience (e.g., Geoserver)
  • Experience with US military data standards and systems (e.g., UCI)
  • Experience with DOD cybersecurity controls, penetration testing, and compliance reporting
  • Data science and AI/ML applications experience
  • Penchant for learning new technologies, balanced with strong pragmatic thinking
  • Design-minded attention to detail in data service implementation
  • Portfolio of past projects with code samples
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Active DOD Security Clearance

Clearance Information: Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.
