This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to offices in Austin, TX, Mountain View, CA, Warren, MI, or the Greater Seattle Area three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Autonomous Vehicles Data team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust data platforms essential for the development and deployment of self-driving car technology. In this role you will own technical projects from start to finish, contribute to the team's product roadmap, and be responsible for major technical decisions and tradeoffs.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Autonomous Vehicles Data team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust data platforms essential for the development and deployment of self-driving car technology. In this role you will own technical projects from start to finish, contribute to the team's product roadmap, and be responsible for major technical decisions and tradeoffs.
What You'll Do
- Build, manage and own data pipelines to collect, cleanse and transform data from various sources into foundational datasets. Own visualizations that calculate the company's topline KPIs, collaborating closely with AV PMs.
- Ensure data reliability (quality, security) & regulation compliance (privacy, governance).
- Build strong partnerships with stakeholders (Data Science & ML teams) and collaborate to deliver cross functional projects.
- Use cloud technologies to own, design, implement, and test scalable data systems in the cloud. Champion engineering excellence by continuously improving systems and processes .
- Champion engineering & operational excellence by continuously improving.
- Systems, processes, documentation and best practices for knowledge sharing across the engineering community.
- Actively participate in team's planning, code reviews and design discussions .
- Conduct technical interviews and onboard and mentor junior engineers
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems / related field or relevant experience.
- 5+ years working with big data systems - Data lake / Data. Warehouse / Lakehouse using cloud technologies (Azure, GCP, AWS)
- 5+ years working with ETL / ELT, data modeling, Python (or similar), SQL.
- Expert in building and optimizing data pipelines and infrastructure
- Hands on experience in orchestrating automated workflows or batch jobs.
- Hands-on experience and expertise with visualization tools (Hex, power BI, or similar).
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- Hands-on experience in implementing data governance/privacy regulations within data systems.
- Experience in self-driving technology domain.
- Experience with big data frameworks and tools like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or Apache Kafka for processing and analyzing large datasets.
- Hands on experience with data serialization formats like JSON, Parquet, YML and XML.
- Experience working with petabyte scale data system.

Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: $125,000 - $198,400. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
