This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and integrate cybersecurity controls into system architectures, infrastructure, and application environments.
  • Support implementation of NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and DoD cybersecurity requirements across system components.
  • Integrate cybersecurity into DevSecOps pipelines, including automated security testing and compliance validation .
  • Conduct system-level vulnerability assessments and security engineering analyses.
  • Analyze system logs, alerts, and telemetry to identify threats, anomalies, and potential vulnerabilities.
  • Support continuous monitoring activities and ensure system security posture is maintained.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, software developers, and cloud engineers to ensure secure system integration.
  • Support cybersecurity incident response from a system engineering and integration perspective.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of cybersecurity documentation, system security designs, and engineering artifacts.
  • Support implementation of Zero Trust architecture principles across enterprise systems.
  • Validate system configurations and ensure compliance with STIGs and security baselines.
  • Provide reporting and analysis to support risk-based decision making.
  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Assurance, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 8–12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6–10 years of relevant experience.
  • At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:
    • Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Intermediate Cyber Defense Analyst roles (e.g., CySA+, Security+, CASP+, or equivalent),
    • Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,
    • Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity systems engineering to include leading teams of cybersecurity engineers in the development of security features, policy, and accreditation elements in concert with DoD security standards
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity engineering within system architectures in DoD or Federal environments.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., ACAS, Tenable) and security monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK).
  • Experience integrating cybersecurity controls into infrastructure, cloud, or application environments.
  • Experience applying NIST SP 800-53, RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience analyzing threats, vulnerabilities, and system security posture.
  • Experience operating within SAFe or Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.
  • Experience with MBSE and other engineering tools.
  • Proven experience in developing cybersecurity and information assurance artifacts.
  • Experience with FOSS, COTS, and GOTS products.
  • Experience in designing and implementing cybersecurity plans and architectures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting cybersecurity systems engineering across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture and secure system design principles.
  • Experience leading advanced cyber defense analytics, SIEM/SOAR integration, or detection engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps-integrated cybersecurity engineering practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data, AI/ML, or cloud platform cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Relevant advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, or equivalent).
  • Experience implementing automated compliance and continuous monitoring solutions.

Pay Range:Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
