About This Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Customer Data Scientist who thrives at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and real enterprise impact. You will work directly with some of APAC's most sophisticated organisations - helping them move from AI curiosity to AI value, across the full spectrum of predictive and generative AI.
This is not a lab role. You will be in the room with executives, data science teams, and business stakeholders - building solutions, running enablement programs, and translating complex AI into outcomes that decision-makers can act on. You will be backed by a world-class team including Kaggle Grandmasters, and equipped with H2O.ai's industry-leading platform spanning AutoML, LLM Studio, and agentic AI tooling.
This position is based in US.
What You Will Do
AI Solution Development & Delivery
- Design and build custom AI/ML agents and applications using the H2O AI stack, tailored to high-value industry use cases across banking, insurance, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing.
- Lead end-to-end GenAI solution delivery - LLM selection and evaluation, fine-tuning, RAG pipeline design, LLMOps, and guardrails - at enterprise scale.
- Develop agentic AI workflows that automate complex, multi-step business processes and integrate into customer production environments.
- Build reusable accelerators, solution templates, and best practice frameworks that scale impact across the customer base.
Customer Enablement & Adoption
- Design and deliver hands-on enablement programs - workshops, hackathons, bootcamps, and training sessions - for audiences ranging from data scientists to C-suite executives.
- Guide customers through their AI adoption journey: from first use case identification through model governance, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Help customers get maximum value from H2O.ai products including Driverless AI, H2O Wave, H2O LLM Studio, H2O-3, and Document AI.
- Run innovation sprints and datathons that accelerate customer capability building and generate tangible proof points.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Translate technical AI outputs into compelling business narratives - clearly articulating value, risk, and next steps for non-technical stakeholders and executives.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor across customer organizations, building deep relationships with data science teams, business units, and AI leadership.
- Contribute to pre-sales engagements - scoping solutions, building proof of concepts, and providing technical credibility that accelerates deal progression.
- Represent H2O.ai externally through customer briefings, industry events, and thought leadership content.
Platform & Practice Development
- Contribute to H2O.ai's GenAI and ML platform evolution by feeding customer insights and real-world requirements back into product and engineering teams.
- Develop industry-specific accelerators, demo environments, and solution playbooks for the Field Technology team.
- Collaborate with Program Managers, Senior AI Engineers, and Kaggle Grandmasters to deliver cohesive, high-quality engagements.
What We Are Looking For
Experience & Background
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and AI, with a proven track record delivering projects for enterprise customers.
- Strong expertise across both predictive AI (GLMs, gradient boosting, random forests, neural networks, time-series, anomaly detection) and generative AI (LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, evaluation, guardrails).
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI agents and GenAI applications for industry-specific use cases.
- Proven ability to design and deliver customer enablement programs - workshops, hackathons, and training - for technical and business audiences.
Skills & Capabilities
- Exceptional customer-facing communication skills - able to engage credibly with engineers, data scientists, and C-suite executives in the same day.
- Fluency in Python and standard ML/data science libraries and frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with H2O.ai products or comparable enterprise AI/ML platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise AI requirements: security, governance, scalability, compliance, and responsible AI.
- Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent customer engagements without losing quality or urgency.
How to Stand Out From the Crowd
- Kaggle competition experience or active participation in the data science community.
- Published blogs, conference talks, or open-source contributions demonstrating thought leadership in AI.
- Experience in regulated industries - financial services, healthcare, or government - with an understanding of compliance and risk considerations in AI deployment.
- Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks, MCP, or LLM orchestration tooling.
