Join our APAC Asset Management legal team in Hong Kong, where you will provide broad legal coverage for our Hong Kong and APAC businesses. As a Senior Counsel in the APAC Asset Management legal team, you will have the opportunity to advise on legal and regulatory issues related to investment products across all asset classes in Hong Kong and the APAC region. You will collaborate with global teams, keeping stakeholders informed of regulatory changes, and playing a key role in our dynamic and innovative environment.
Job responsibilities

  • Advise the business on legal and regulatory issues relating to investment products and strategies across all asset classes in Hong Kong and the APAC region
  • Draft, review, and advise on fund offering and organizational documentation, and agreements related to the establishment or utilization of platforms/channels for fund distribution
  • Review and negotiate terms and conditions of trade agreements, including ISDAs, GMRAs, term sheets for structured products, and F&O agreements from the investment manager's perspective
  • Partner and collaborate with Asset Management Legal teams in multiple jurisdictions to support global/regional projects, including cross-border activities
  • Keep the team and stakeholders abreast of regulatory changes in Hong Kong


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Qualified to practice law in Hong Kong, or candidates with internationally recognized qualifications from common law jurisdictions may be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience with law firms or in-house with international financial services providers or asset management companies
  • Solid understanding of mutual funds and/or ETFs, including types of vehicles, organizational structures, and distribution channels
  • Experience in connection with the offer and operation of mutual funds gained from a leading law firm, investment bank, or asset management company
  • Solid understanding of derivatives and experience in negotiating agreements under which derivatives are traded
  • Attorneys must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing or otherwise eligible to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the position is based


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Japanese language capability preferred
