We’re seeking a Senior Consumer Communications Lead to champion and execute our consumer communications strategy in the US, while serving as a strategic advisor to our international teams. In this high-impact role, you will shape and amplify Pinterest’s story to media, partners, and external audiences, further increasing awareness of Pinterest and the many reasons people turn to our platform.

You will lead the trends work stream for the Consumer Communications team, guiding the ideation, narrative development, and execution of major trends reports worldwide in collaboration with Data Insights, Editorial, Sales, and Social teams. This role is pivotal in elevating Pinterest’s voice as a cultural touchstone and maintaining our position at the forefront of popular culture.

What you'll do:
  • Influence and implement the US Consumer Communications strategy, advising international communications colleagues as needed.
  • Lead the trends reports work stream, owning ideation, roadmap, monetization, and narrative development in collaboration with data, editorial, creative strategy, and social.
  • Drive major Pinterest tentpole consumer moments—such as Pinterest Predicts —from communications conception to execution.
  • Manage event communications tied to trends reports, including planning and overseeing editorial meetings, press events, webinars, and interviews with Pinterest spokespeople.
  • Build and maintain relationships with top-tier consumer, lifestyle, and trends media in the US, securing coverage and elevating Pinterest’s reputation and influence.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales and Brand Partnerships to advise on and deliver comms strategy for brand partnerships and client collaborations.
  • Develop high-quality strategic communications materials independently—such as newsroom posts, executive social content, strategic pitches, and press prep documents.
  • Elevate Pinterest’s voice in culture, proactively surfacing new cultural tentpoles and ensuring Pinterest is driving and present in relevant trends conversations.
  • Build scalable processes for trend reporting, event planning, and media measurement. Mentor junior and international team members on process and best practices.
  • Serve as project leader for large-scale, cross-functional, global projects and launches.
  • Create briefs and prepare senior spokespeople for media engagements and events.
  • Monitor industry and cultural trends; provide strategic counsel and real-time guidance to internal and executive leadership.
  • Develop operational best practices, support team efficiency, and take initiative to solve challenges in a nimble, scrappy, and resourceful manner.
  • Help manage inbound press inquiries.
What we're looking for:
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer and lifestyle communications, ideally with leadership experience at a tech company, major brand, or agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing relationships with key media, securing top-tier coverage, and handling crisis communications.
  • Deep understanding of pop culture, consumer press, digital media, and current trends.
  • Proven ability to lead and execute high-profile, cross-functional projects, including major global launches and trends reports.
  • Expert-level proactive project management and event planning experience.
  • Strong writing and communications skills—capable of developing compelling narratives for diverse audiences and channels.
  • Strategic thinker, able to develop and execute complex communications plans with minimal oversight.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented, comfortable setting up scalable systems for team and program success.
  • Creative, resourceful, nimble, and able to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environments.
  • Experience advising and collaborating with executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including Sales, Brand Partnerships, and Data teams.
  • Ability to synthesize complex insights and trends into accessible, culturally relevant stories that elevate Pinterest’s presence in the media and cultural conversation.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. 
  • This role will be part of a team that aims to go into the office for in-person collaboration twice a week (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from New York City.
