Position Description:
The Senior Appian Business Analyst is responsible for leading and advising ICF clients while eliciting and analyzing business requirements and translating into documentation and conceptual design from which applications and solutions are developed. This position is within the context of an Agile team employing Scrum development framework. The Senior Appian Business Analyst is responsible for Requirements Management and will assist with solution configuration when appropriate. The Senior Appian Business Analyst will support the Project/Program manager in identifying financial, technical and human resources in order to complete projects; will support the development team with technical issues and solutions to be implemented, and help to identify risks and mitigation strategies needed to meet our client commitments. The Senior Appian Business Analyst will review deliverables, perform quality assurance, produce and update management documents, including reports, action items, meeting minutes, weekly and monthly status reports.
Responsibilities:
Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications.
Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget.
Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
Required Skills:
5+ years experience as a business analyst in a fast-paced application development environment
5+ years recent experience working in an agile development environment as a business analyst (i.e., scrum, kanban, etc.)
1+ years of experience working with Appian BPM
Green Card holder or US Citizenship required (required by federal government for position)
Must be able to obtain Public Trust Security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies and software development methodologies
Comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including recent successful and demonstrated experience with agile methodologies (Scrum), Requirements Management and Configuration Management methodologies, along with corresponding support tools, is expected
Concrete understanding of Object Oriented enterprise software system development processes, methodologies, as well as major technologies (such as Java and .Net) and approaches (such as modularity and SOA)
Experience facilitating requirements gathering, Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions, capturing client requirements and feedback
Ability to perform R&D and author white papers while utilizing different team members’ subject matter expertise
Practice knowledge transfer and foster change management
Teamwork-focused/collaborative work style
Ability to push creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets is required.
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts is required.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate difficult sensitive information tactfully is required.
Must possess strong analytical, organizational and product management skills.
Ability to work independently with users to define concepts, under direction of project/program manager is required.
Must possess strong leadership skills and generate enthusiasm among team members.
Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously is required.
Ability to lead and negotiate business solutions that balance technical capability, cost, and time, against business need is required.
Significant experience with Microsoft Office as it relates to producing project management deliverables, i.e., MS Project and Project Server for task management, Excel for reporting and data analysis, Word for status reporting and PowerPoint for status communication and project briefings

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
