As a Senior Backend Engineer, you are a builder at heart, excited to mentor others, and thrive on delivering solutions that scale.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll architect and build backend systems that power mission-critical workflows. You’ll work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance services that meet the needs of our customers. You’ll also leverage the latest AI tools and platforms such as Claude, Codex, and other cutting-edge AI assistants to enhance development speed, code quality, and innovation.
Design and develop high-performance, scalable microservices using Node.js and TypeScript
Build and maintain event-driven data pipelines using Apache Kafka for real-time data processing
Architect solutions that meet strict compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI DSS)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and technical requirements
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making processes
Implement robust error handling, monitoring, and automated recovery mechanisms
Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards
Design and implement APIs that integrate with various enterprise systems and third-party services

What We’re Looking For
Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
Experience building microservices and event-driven architectures
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal
Proven experience delivering scalable APIs and backend services
Bonus Points
Full‑stack engineering experience, seamlessly integrating frontend and backend development to deliver end‑to‑end solutions (including React expertise)
Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event streaming

We are a hybrid workforce with key hubs in Denver, Fishers (Indiana), Los Angeles, Toronto, and Krakow, Poland. While some roles offer flexibility in location, others may require proximity to one of our hubs. Salary Range
$160,000 - $180,000 CAD. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
