Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our team and help build the next generation platform for DXC. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Lead Architect, other senior development leaders, and front-end teams to design and implement robust, scalable backend services that power our innovative platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code and services
  • Create well-documented and tested REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, test coverage requirements, and architectural best practices
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for APIs, services, and architectural decisions
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure the platform meets security requirements
  • Design and build integrations with external systems and third-party services
  • Mentor junior developers to elevate their output quality and ensure their work meets established requirements
  • Continuously improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our backend systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in backend development
  • Strong proficiency in Python and related frameworks (FastAPI, Pydantic, etc.)
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs with documentation and testing
  • Experience with GraphQL implementation on the server side
  • Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and ORM technologies
  • Experience integrating with external systems and third-party services
  • Knowledge of security best practices and secure coding standards
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Proven experience mentoring junior developers
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience working with AI technologies and agentic workflows
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Understanding of serverless computing
  • Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools
  • Experience building AI agents a plus

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $131,300 - $243,800.

Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.  DXC offers a comprehensive, flexible, and competitive benefits program which includes, but is not limited to, health, dental, and vision insurance coverage; employee wellness; life and disability insurance; a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, paid time off.
