This is a hybrid role that can be based in any of our three hub locations:
Fountain Valley, CA; Loveland, CO; or New York City. The Target Pay Range for this position in Loveland, CO is $97,020-$121,330 annually. The Target Pay Range for this position in NYC is $ 105,800- $132,360 annually. The Target Pay Range for this position in Fountain Valley, CA is $101,430-$126,845 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to lead the management, maintenance, and optimization of our Azure SQL databases. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure SQL technologies, strong performance tuning skills, and a proactive approach to database reliability, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain highly available Azure SQL Database and SQL Server instances (PaaS and IaaS)
Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and security across environments.
Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies in Azure.
Automate routine tasks for operational efficiency.
Collaborate with developers and DevSecOps to optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures
Apply patches and upgrades in coordination with application teams and change management protocols.
Maintain documentation of database environments, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Implement and enforce database security, compliance, and governance policies
Participate in capacity planning and resource forecasting to meet future growth
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues and incidents
Lead or mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
7+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server, with at least 3 years focused on Azure SQL.
Solid understanding of database security best practices, RBAC, auditing, and encryption
Preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certifications
Preferred: Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
Expert knowledge of T-SQL, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
Strong understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies in Azure
Proficiency in PowerShell, and Azure CLI
Familiarity with Patterns to avoid breaking changes.
Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
Preferred: Familiarity with DataDog
Preferred: Familiarity with DevOps pipelines for database changes either manually or via tools such as Liquibase or Flyway
Physical Demands:
Extensive sitting, phone, and computer use
Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers
Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 15 lbs.
Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
Ability to communicate verbally on the telephone and in person
Fluency in the English language
Extended hours may be needed
Work Environment:
The employee will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet. The employee is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system.
