Job Description:
In this position as a Federal Financial Accountant, you will lead high-complexity accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, and automation initiatives to support audit readiness. In this position, you will also:
- Lead complex reconciliations across budgetary, proprietary, general ledger, and subsidiary accounts
- Prepare and review adjusting journal entries and enhance AP/AR processing workflows
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including footnotes and variance analyses
- Ensure compliance with OMB Circular A-136 and Department of the Navy financial management standards
- Maintain PP&E records, including depreciation schedules and inventory accuracy
- Support audit sample documentation, validation, and root cause analysis of discrepancies
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes through automation and standardization
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial reporting
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 4 years of DoD/DoW financial management experience.
- 2 years of experience preparing financial statements in a federal environment.
Desired Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of federal accounting standards (FMR, GAAP, OMB Circular A-136).
- Strong reconciliation and journal entry expertise.
- Experience supporting external audits (IPA, OIG, DHA).
- Experience with GFEBS, DDRS AFS/Bud, DCAS, IPAC, and DFAS processes.
- Experience with Advana and DoW-approved AI tools.
At Blake Willson Group, we believe in transparency and fairness in compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $110,000 in the United States. Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
