What We Can Achieve Together:

The Senior Associate Director of Development, North American Policy & Government Relations and Climate Mitigation Program (SADoD) develops, implements, and manages effective multi-year strategies and plans for the cultivation and solicitation of gift prospects, including corporate, foundation, institutions, and/or individual donors.

The SADoD understands and applies complex principles of developing donor strategies and builds strong relationships with a portfolio of new and current donors and prospects. The SADoD will cultivate donors from annual giving to major or planned gifts. They will be responsible for direct asks to both global and regional priorities to meet funding needs. They discuss assets proficiently and listen for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts and trade lands. They will incorporate blended gifts and gifts of assets in proposals to donors. They are capable of discussing the priorities of the Conservancy. They have knowledge of charitable giving, particularly private foundations, operating foundations, and Donor Advised Funds; discuss charitable options with donors. They manage and maintain strong relationships with relationship managers from the global and regional teams. They are responsible for ensuring the programmatic work is a collaborative and well-integrated effort within philanthropy and across the organization, including organizing internal communications They reinforce consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provide direction related to their relevant field(s). They work with teams to establish and track measures, and lead indicators of progress and success. The SADoD provides advice, guidance, and oversees programs related to the functions of the NAPGR Program, including the Trustee Advocacy Program. They will lead diverse activities, develop complex processes, project outcomes, and initiate solutions in order to improve effectiveness.

The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication and collaboration skills and experience with fundraising practices, managing relationships, and evolving trends in charitable giving. What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience. 

  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with constituents such as major donors and corporations. 

  • Experience in asking for and closing six and seven-figure gifts, including planned gifts.   

  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors. 

  • Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.  

  • Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving. 

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $113,450 - $165,450. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
