The Role

Kyndryl is seeking a highly skilled Application Architect to design, develop, and oversee the implementation of enterprise-level applications. You will play a critical role in aligning technology solutions with business goals, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document application architecture for new and existing systems.
  • Lead the selection of technologies, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure architectural consistency and adherence to best practices across development teams.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools for performance monitoring, security, and integration.
  • Guide the modernization of legacy systems and support cloud migration initiatives.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to development teams.
  • Define and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and architectural principles.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Required Technical and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with 6+ years in architecture roles.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in enterprise integration patterns, RESTful services, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with business context.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert).
  • Experience with application migration and modernization
  • Familiarity with legacy modernization, data migrations, data lake, big data, and analytics platforms.
  • Exposure to security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR, HIPAA).

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $138,480 to $263,160 based on a full-time schedule.  

Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience.  For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.

There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations: 

California: $152,400 to $315,720 

Colorado: $138,480 to $263,160 

New York City: $166,200 to $315,720 

Washington: $152,400 to $289,440 

Washington DC: $152,400 to $289,440 

  

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off.  Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
