Our Android app is built using the latest native technologies and features rich user interfaces and data visualizations, delivering highly actionable and relevant information to WHOOP members to help maximize their daily performance.
As a Senior Android Engineer at WHOOP, you’ll play a critical role in building features that empower members to optimize their health and performance. By connecting our powerful data science algorithms with intuitive and engaging visualizations, you'll help transform complex insights into meaningful, actionable experiences. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop features that support our mission to unlock human performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams in a fast-paced growth environment.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Android platform by defining and applying best practices to improve usability for both users and developers.
- Communicate effectively with immediate team members and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead and contribute to cross-team projects, working alongside backend, iOS, and Android engineers.
- Present technical solutions, improvements, and frameworks to the broader software team for adoption.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience building, testing, debugging, and shipping Android applications in a professional environment.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Android frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Room, Coroutines, and Android Architecture Components.
- Deep understanding of Android Studio and related debugging and profiling tools.
- Experience integrating with RESTful backend services.
- A product-driven mindset with a strong sense of customer empathy.
- Eagerness to learn and rapidly grow across Android technologies and external systems.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
