The General Motors Global Tax and Customs department is a team of approximately 200 people focused primarily on GM's strategic and most complex tax and trade matters. We manage relationships with numerous external partners who perform many of our routine tax functions. Overview

We are currently seeking a tax/finance professional to join our Transfer Pricing Operations team within the Tax Staff at our global headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. The Transfer Pricing Operations team has responsibility for setting prices for goods and services transactions between GM controlled entities. In parallel, this team has responsibility for the day-today activities of certain internal trading companies.
Rotational opportunity providing experiences in various functions and groups within the Tax department (Tax Accounting, Tax Compliance, Tax Audits, International Tax, State and Local Tax, Transfer Pricing, Value Added Tax, Customs, and Tax Planning). Designed for those who take initiative, can manage projects through to completion, and have strong written and oral communication abilities.
Key responsibilities:
  • Monitor legal entity profitability of allied tradeflows (budget, forecast and actuals) to ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies and strategies
  • Provide robust financial analysis, communicate results/recommendations to management to enable effective transfer pricing and business decisions
  • Improve/develop transfer pricing operations processes and systems (e.g.: data analytics tools)
  • Participate in high priority projects including business transactions, tax planning initiatives, and finance system launches
  • Regularly engage and collaborate globally and cross functionally with internal business, finance, tax/customs, IT, data operations, etc. teams regarding all aspects of the position

Required Technical and Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor or advanced degree (e.g.: MBA) in accounting, finance, tax. or business-related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a corporate finance department, financial consulting firm, or accounting firm.

Preferred Technical and Professional Skills:
  • Finance acumen and knowledge of GM's business and internal finance systems (e.g.: Excel modelling, Hyperion smart view applications such as GCARS, EGPPS). Preferable with knowledge in AI LLM models.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
  • Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global HQ Detroit, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
