We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to drive evaluation and model development within Oura’s AI Advisor and custom model initiatives. This role will focus on building novel evaluation systems and tooling, strengthening Oura’s position as a leader in AI-driven health insights, and developing custom AI models that power first-in-class recommendations.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement evaluation systems and tooling to validate Oura’s custom AI models and Advisor
- Develop novel evaluation methods to measure grounding, reliability, and actionability of LLM and agentic systems
- Build and optimize custom AI models through fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and quantization
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to balance cutting-edge research with practical engineering impact
- Lead initiatives that reduce Oura’s dependency on external AI SaaS providers and accelerate model development
This is a remote US role with a slight preference for candidates based in San Francisco, San Diego, or New York.
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- 5+ years of experience in production AI/ML work
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML/AI frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, CDK)
- Experience with fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, and deployment of LLMs or agentic systems
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive product vision
- Initiative and self-direction in research and scientific exploration
Preferred skills:
- Experience leading AI projects
- Experience building AI agents and deploying them to production
- Experience building multimodal GenAI systems

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

- Region 2 $187,000 - $215,000
- Region 3 $174,000 - $200,000
