Position Overview
BIG Fiber is seeking a Senior Accountant to support and scale our accounting operations in a lean, collaborative environment. This role is ideal for an experienced individual contributor who can take ownership of core processes, work independently, and grow alongside the organization.
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, own key transactional and close-related functions, and partner with internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes and systems. This role will work closely with and provide day-to-day guidance to our outsourced accounting team.

Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee and review daily accounting activities, including:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable and Customer Billing
- Expense reports
- Bank Transactions
- Own and continuously improve AP, AR, and expense-related processes
- Work closely with outsourced accounting consultants to ensure timely, accurate processing and adherence to internal standards
Customer Invoicing & Billing
- Manage monthly customer invoicing for contract-based services
- Partner closely with Service Delivery team to ensure all billable activity is captured, complete, and accurate
- Leverage Salesforce to validate customer, contract, and service data for invoicing
Month-End Close & Balance Sheet Support
- Support the monthly close process, including:
- Journal entry preparation and review
- Revenue and expense variance analysis
- Support revenue recognition in coordination with billing activity
· Assist in ensuring balance sheet accounts are complete, accurate, and well-documented
Project & Job Cost Accounting
· Assist with project and job cost allocations and reconciliations
· Work with project leads and department heads to ensure financial data aligns with operational activity and financial reporting
Systems, Automation & Process Improvement
· Leverage accounting systems and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
· Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls
· Bring a systems-oriented mindset to problem-solving, not just a transactional one
Audit, Tax & Compliance
· Support annual audit preparation, including providing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests
· Partner with the Controller and external auditors as a key accounting resource, as needed
· Support tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing activities as needed
Qualifications
Required
· 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
· Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close
· Hands-on experience with AP, AR, and expense reporting
· Experience supporting balance sheet reconciliations and close processes
· Experience with project or job cost accounting
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing needs
· Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to pitch in where needed
· Demonstrated initiative, ownership mindset, and desire to grow responsibilities over time
Preferred
· Experience with Sage (Intacct preferred) & Salesforce
· Experience working with outsourced accounting teams
· Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving organization

Work Hours: Company hours meet our customers’ and internal clients’ needs. This is an exempt position, so the hours of work will be dependent on the work that needs to be addressed to accomplish the work ascribed to this position.
Travel: Travel up to 15% of the time
• Base salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
• Bonus: annual bonus eligible, based on % of base salary

Work Environment and Rewards
This role is subject to a hybrid office/remote arrangement, reporting into one of our core offices in either Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO or Sunnyvale, CA on a regular basis, while still allowing for routine remote work. Specifics around in-person requirements and remote flexibility for this role will be determined with the hiring manager at the time of hire.
