Boom is a small team with high standards. We move fast, operate with urgency, and expect high ownership. You will be trusted to figure things out, spot issues early, and drive solutions without heavy process or close oversight. If you want responsibility and work that has real impact, Boom can be an excellent fit. If you prefer a slower pace, highly defined tasks, or being told exactly what to do each day, Boom may not be the right environment.
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to work directly with Boom’s CFO and own the day-to-day accounting operations of the business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and takes pride in accuracy and organization.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining clean books, running a tight month-end close, supporting treasury and payments, and partnering with the CFO on financial reporting, audits, and model updates. This is a highly trusted role with broad visibility across the business, where attention to detail, strong judgment, and the ability to operate independently are critical to success.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in recording transactions related to the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Assist in monthly updates to the financial model, ensuring all data from the general ledger is accurately reflected.
- Execute month-end close processes, balancing all accounts before updating the financial model.
- Manage and oversee daily treasury activities, including monitoring and reconciling bank accounts.
- Process payments for vendor invoices, government regulatory agencies, and other financial obligations.
- Manage vendor setup and payment processing through Bill.com.
- Handle PayPal reimbursements and ensure timely payments.
- Lead the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure a smooth and successful audit.
- Maintain strong relationships with auditors and tax advisors to ensure best practices.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests and analyses as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, and Excel including Pivot Tables, and VLookups
- Strong understanding of AP/AR processes, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation.
- Regularly uses AI tools to accelerate output, reduce manual effort, and improve the quality of deliverables.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in using AI tools to improve speed, clarity, and quality of work.
This role is not for you if:
- You prefer a steady state job where priorities rarely change.
- You want highly detailed instructions before starting work.
- You are uncomfortable owning deadlines and accuracy without close oversight.
- You do not enjoy improving processes, documentation, and structure where gaps exist.
